Had MRI
Hi, today I had an MRI on the lower part of my spine. I sure wish I had taken a pain pill prior. I could barely turn on my side to sit up. By the pain was off the scale. I get home, and open my email. My horoscope was there so I read it. It says by the look on their faces when they mention they need to talk to me, hit me like a ton. I will know tomorrow what the results are so please say a prayer for me that whatever it is, they will see it and do something about it. Right now, I can barely put weight on my left leg. I was able to walk some before this happened a month ago, now it's pure agony.
Here's some advice for those of you who are searching for the right surgeon. Ask up front what out of pocket expenses you will have to pay. Vanderbilt hospital nutrionist for Dr. Wright, requires you have 2 classes prior to surgery and 3 after surgery, at the cost of $300 per session. Now I don't know about y'all, but my social security disability check doesn't cover that. But the lady doesn't bill the insurance company. One called her Dr.'s office (Wright) and found she will have to pay up front $403 for his consult. Beware. These are things you won't know about until you get to see the Dr. unless you ask out right.
Also, while you are waiting, go a head and start getting used to splenda instead of sugar, and work on getting in your protein. I have ideas on that, just email me. Ladies, if you already have your surgery date, DO NOT PERM OR HIGHLIGHT YOUR HAIR 3 MONTHS PRIOR AND 3 MONTHS AFTER. This will cause your hair to fall out quicker. Mostly on the top and it does grow back, so star****ching the protein intake on foods. Pink Salmon, tuna in water, white chicken, white turkey, shrimp, cottage cheese these are all high in protein. You can buy some on line, places even allow you to buy samples to see what you like, and how well you were handled it. If you don't like it now, then you aren't out a bunch of money. So check around, online, health stores. I have heard that fuzzy navel (peach) is great. Best of luck to all of you in your journey. Kathy
Kath,
Sorry about your increased pain and will keep you in my prayers until you get the results of your MRI. I went back to see my neurosurgeon today and we've exhausrted all possibilities relating to my neck except for surgery. So I will be going under the knife again in about one month. Good news is he finally believed me when I said the lortab don't do sh&t for my pain and gave me an order for some new pain meds.
As for Dr. Wright, that must be a new policy on the nutritionist because he did my surgery last October and I didn't have to see a nutritionist before surgery. The hospital dieticien saw me after surgery but I didn't have to pay anything extea. I also didn't have to pay anything for my consult other than my 30 specialist co-pay.
Kelly
Kathy,
We're all praying for you. I hope the results of the MRI are able to help give the docs a good course of action so you can be pain free! I'll send you an email with my progress. I've not been good at keeping up with posting here. Now that I'm back at work with full time access to a computer, I'm hopeing I'll get better at keeping everyone informed.
Toni
