Gastric adjustable band surgery
This web site is great! I have learned so much in the few days that I have been a member! One thing I cannot find is about the laproscopic adjustable band surgery. What I want to know is how many incisions are made and how long the surgery takes. For anybody who has had their gallbladder removed by laproscope does it compare pretty closely with the band surgery? As far as time in the hospital and recovery time at home. Thanks for all of your help! You guys are great!!
Hi Mary. I don't know the answer regarding lap band surgery, for the gastric being done by Laproscopic it's about 7 cuts about an inch each. When I had my gall bladder taken out, I have three small scars, and an almost fading scar at the navel. Most that just have the lapband surgery are usually home the next day, with laproscopic gastric bypass, depends on how you do, about 3 days in the hospital, those that had to have the open it's about 4-5 days in the hospital. That's all I can tell, that came from post-ops, and what the surgeons have told me at the consult appointments. I wish you the best on your journey. Always, Kathy the
Hi Mary,
I had lap-band surgery on 3/11 in Memphis. I have 4 incisions that are approximately 1/2" and 1 port incision that is approximately 2" in length.
I was in surgery for 1 hr and 15 mins. and was actually at the hospital for 8 hours. I took 1 week off from work, but could have actually returned to work sooner if necessary. (I have a desk job.)
For more information from an experienced group, please visit us on the lap-band message board on this web site. (Just choose lap band when instructed to choose a fourm.) You won't find a nicer group of people.
Hope to see you there soon!
