Sleep Apnea...
Hi Missy! I don't know a place in Nashville but my doctor referred me to have my sleep study. So, maybe you should just have your PCP refer you someplace? My sleep study is scheduled for this coming Sunday, 5/29, in Cookeville. Can anyone tell me what to expect? I just hope I am able to sleep there, especially being hooked up to all those wires! I worry I won't be able to sleep in a strange place all wired up with people watching me!

HEY MISSY,
ANY HOSP IN NASHVILLE SHOULD BE ABLE TO REFER YOU TO A SLEEP STUDY.....I HAD A FRIEND HERE IN COOKEVILLE THAT HAD ONE DONE...HE JUST TOOK THE MACHINE HOME WITH HIM AND HOOKED UP AND WENT TO SLEEP...IT RECORDED INFO WHILE HE SLEEP TO GIVE A MORE EXACT READING THAN IF HE WAS SLEEPING IN STRANGE BED....GOOD LUCK AND LET ME KNOW....JANELLA
Hi Missy, I have had several sleep study's, well I take that back. I've had one sleep study and several sleep level tests. You take your medication, they will hook you up to a lot of wires, mostly around your head, face, some on your legs, and arms. Others will be hooked on your chest to monitor your heart and breathing. The beds are always top notch beds, the rooms are quiet and very personal. Once they read the study, and it's determined you have sleep apnea, you will have to return for a sleep level test, to see what level your machine will need to be set at. After surgery you may not need the machine again. I am a level 18 with 2 liters of oxygen as an extra boost. It keeps me alive. So don't fret or worry. That will keep you awake. I will tell you this much, some sleep centers have beds that will raise up like a hospital bed. That will give you a faults reading. Mine read a 10 last June. In August it had to be redone, and I registered 16 lying in a flat bed. In Dec. it registered 18 and my oxygen keep dropping. I sincerely hope you don't have it, but if you do, it's because of being obese. After your surgery and after you lose weight, most say that when they came home from the hospital, they never had to use it again. Good luck, sweetie, Kathy
