ANYBODY HERE ALIVE??
Hi Kat
I guess we need more interaction here like some
I'm starting out to about this WLS and so far so good
The only problem I'm having is deciding if I want the open or Laproscopic done. My insurance co. told me about John Wright over at the
Vanderbuilt hospital in Nashville but I think he does only open RNY.
I need more info about this. cause I'm not sure
about it...............................................
Missy Lea
Hi Missy, open takes longer to heal vs. the lap, but with open they can make sure that there is no leakage from bowel being attached to the pouch. With the laproscopic, you can't have anything to drin****il you do the barium swallow to check for leaks. I know that much about them. Myself, I have a lot of scar tissue from prior surgerys having been done with the laproscopic. But I would have to have the open do to the fact I am allergic to the barium. I wish you the best in your decision. Just make sure you know all the facts before making your decision. Basically, if you work, go with the lap, if you don't then either one will be fine. Send me info on Dr. Wright. May God guide you with your decision. Love Kathy
When I had surgery on the 9th, I didn't have to do a barium leak test at all. They did a test while I was in the operating room, and tried me on water to make sure I tolerated it. I was given one ounce of water every hour for 3 hours to check for tolerance. They decided the leak test wasn't needed, so I didn't have to have it, thankfully. At the time I wanted it, but now I'm glad I didn't have it. Mine was Lap too.
Take care,
Ashleigh
