Hey everyone...I have a surgery date! It is July 5th! YAY!! I am having all kinds of mixed emotions right now..I totally concentrated for six months, on appeals, etc.. I am kinda sorta numb right now..thinking about stuff that I really didn't think about during the time of the appeal process..Like WHY can't we have caffiene "forever" after the surgery? I drink about 5 diet cokes a day..I understand the carbonation thing..but why not coffee/tea? Just curious about this and some other stuff..It certainly will not prevent me from having my surgery! ha Hope everyone has a good weekend! Kathy

Congrads Kathy on the date, and about time wouldn't you say? I don't understand about the caffeine thing, since I am allergic to it. But you will find that after drinking decafe iced tea for two weeks, then try a caffeine tea, that regular tea has a bitter after taste, decafe doesn't. Zero Sprite is fantastic, even flat. That way the carbination won't hurt you. Open it up and let it sit for a while, then try it. Love it can't get enough of it. Best of luck and May God guide your surgeon's hands. Love Kathy the

Congratulations on getting a surgery date! It will be here before you know it! As for the caffeine, I've not been told I couldn't ever have it again. I know that caffeine is an irritant to our new pouches so maybe that's what it is? I used to ONLY drink Cokes, back to back, and all the time. Since surgery, I have only had water or Carbwell lemonade (similar to crystal light only made with splenda). I haven't gone through withdrawls that I know of, and haven't even wanted any caffeine. I thought it would be horrible to go cold turkey, and I wouldn't be able to live without it, but so far I'm not really missing it. I've learned to like water (my doctor would fall over if I told him that!), and don't miss the caffeine. I hope that helps to ease your mind a little. I don't think it will be as bad as you think it will be. I hope not at least! take care, Ashleigh 251/246/140

Well as a recovering Coca~Cola addict, seven months down now.. I have been drinking Flavored waters from Wal-mart. I know that we cannot have fizzy drinks after surgery but these are good flat also. I love the Apple Cider Burst flavor... YUMMY. Next is my sweets.. I am going to do all I can to ensure that if I do get the surgery I will be prepaired for it.... I hope you all have the best of luck!!! Tina ps after a while the caffiene will get out of your system.. and you will be okay... believe me i had severe withdrawls from caffiene....but am okay now...
