BCBS REQUIRED FOR ME.....2 YEARS OF DR RECORDED WEIGHT LOSS ATTEMPTS...LETTER RECOMMENDING FROM PCP....AND 100+ POUNDS OVERWEIGHT...MY JOURNEY STARTED FEB 12TH...APPROVED 4-28-05...SEEMED LIKE YEARS....HOPE THIS HELPS....MAKE SURE YOUR POLICY DOES NOT HAVE A WRITTEN EXCLUSION...EVEN IF IT DOES...TRY AND FIGHT....

HOORAY FOR YOU!! 
I am 2 weeks out and Dr. Houston was my surgeon. He and Holly were wonderful and he has such a dry sense of humor!! He won't put up with much whining!!! The staff of nurses at Centennial are wonderful and so are the student nurses who were there during my stay. I will honestly say that the absolutely worst thing (please forgive my english) was the central line they put in your neck. They have to do it but mine was messy and painful. (not trying to scare you or anything)
I too had BCBS of TN and they approved me the first time. God is so good and I know he will watch over you while you are going through this. You got a post from my angel Piper and she and I went through this together. I advise you get an angel as soon as possible (even if it is someone who has already been through the surgery) and get ready for the ride of your life.
What type of surgery are you having?? I had Lap. RN-y and I will say this- if that is what you are having- it really is not a scary thing. God has brought you to this, he will not leave you during this time. The first night is a bit rough but I had my surgery on Monday the 18th of April, I was off my machiene on Tuesday by 5:00 and released Wednesday. I went shopping on Thursday and Friday. I was exhausted and had a but of internal bleeding that caused me some concern, but I am down 20 pounds in 2 weeks and I am so happy.
