Tammy, I don't know anything about him personally. All I can tell you is that my PCP threatened to smack me if I went to Vanderbilt for my WLS. He does not think highly of the doctors there. They have a very high mortality rate and very little aftercare according to my PCP. That being said -- I am sure there are people who went to those doctors who had a great experience. But, you asked for anyone with any comments, so that's mine. I really hope you hear from people who have used Dr. Wright and get a good feel for how he is as a doc soon. Good luck to you and your daughter!

I am hoping to going to vandy. I have not heard anything bad. I know that most of the doctors that do the wls have studied at vandy with Dr. Richards. If you want more info on a doctor go to dept of health for tennessee and you can check out any doctor. Everything I have checked out so far as been good. Go to a seminar there and see what you think. I have heard some good things about Dr. Wright . Different Doctors there specialize in different procedures.. good luck

I had WLS with Dr. Wright last October 19th. I've had postop problems 3 different times and will have to say he andhis staff stood by me each time. My last hospitilization for a virla syndrome and dehydration was less than fun as they moved me to three different rooms in 24 hours, but as a nurse for many years, I can honestly say I felt in good hands with Dr. Wright. Kelly still hovering at the 260 mark but down from 383 last summer

Tammy, I just had my surgery consult with Dr. Wright this past Wednesday. I feel he would be a good pick for anyone. My kidney transplant doctor sent me to Dr. Wright because of his expertise in transplant patients. The one bit of info you might need to know though is that he DOES NOT perform laparascopic procedures. All of his surgeries are done "open."

Dr Richards DOES do laprascopic procedures but within reason based on your BMI. If it is extremely high, they will always do open, as will any physician due to the risk involved. They have a support group website also and have many satisfied patients you can talk to.
