How long did it take you to have WLS? Starting from the beginning of the process with the doctor until the actual surgery.

I had Dr. Hruska, a partner of Steely. Dr. Steely saw me actually in the hospital. It took me from March 2004 to September 22 ( surgery date). I called them in March. I had set up my appointments with sleep study, dietician, and pyschiatrist after that. I had consultation in July and preop appointment in August and surgery in September. Good luck on your journey. I had Hruska too, but saw Steely in the hospital. Both are nice, but i preferred Hruska. Anyway, my process went *fast*. I had my consult Nov 25, 2003 and had surgery Feb 27, 2004. 3 months and 2 days in between. It would have been a shorter wait but i had to have a sleep study after my consult. My advice : have the dietary consult, psych evaluation and sleep study done BEFORE your surgical consult! I realise the wait times are longer now. Good Luck!!! Rachel 270/134

Hey Gloria, As you know, I see Dr. Steely. I am currently waiting for approval from Tricare. I began my process on March 18 when I had my first consultation. It's a little over a month later and I am waiting for approval. I called Tricare and they should have an answer in 72 hours. It's best to get as many of your tests done before your consultation as possible. The psych eval (Dr. Londa Pitts), sleep study, and dietician. You will also need to attend an educational seminar at Gateway (this is seperate from teh dietician and the seminar given by Steely/Hruska). I will call you today. Keep your head up. I know you have been through alot. When I called the office, Barbara said I could be scheduled for surgery 1-2 weeks after my approval. SO, for me, this process could be as short as 2 months. Renee
