No Surgery
Hi friends, this is to inform you that even though my own shrink and psych wrote a letter that by having the surgery would help with my depression. The surgeon that I went to see in WVa has taken the word of a complete stranger who barely talked with me, saying I am unstable to handle post-op. I am more stable now then I have been all my adult life. I have fought the battle for 2 years, even went so far as to have all my teeth taken out, instead of just 4, so that while my gums were healing, I would also be recovering from surgery. But this wonderful Dr. will not do the surgery based on what the psych said.
If anyone knows of a psych who doesn't test you but spends time just talking with you, and the surgeon's name that works with that psych, please let me know. After 9 denials, I feel I must either give up or back away, and just accept the fact that I won't live a long healthy life but a very short one tied to a wheelchair because of the pain in my body. I am open for any suggestions.
Thanks friends much love and tears, Kathy
Hey Kathy, I am so sorry to hear about this last denial. You have fought so hard. Please don't give up now!! I had my Psych evaluation with a Psychologist by the name of David Cantor who was recommended to me by Dr. Hodges office. He didn't give me a test, but just sat and talked with me. You might give him a try. His number is 423-246-8699 and he is located in Kingsport. You keep your chin up and keep going. Don't give up!! God bless you! Bill

Don't give up Kathy, hang in there! My Dr. was Dr. Rutledge in Chatt. I had my psych with a Dr. Frye in Chatt. all he did was talk to me for about 20 min. just the normal questions as to why I wanted surgery and wanted to know if after the surgery I could handle the way my life would change. He faxed a letter to my surgeon the same day. Dr. Rutledge is a great Dr. too. I would recommend him to anyone. I fought with ins. companies for over two years and many times I felt like just giving up, but I didn't and in the end, I got my surgery. they say all things happen for a reason. Just keep fighting your battle. Your time will come. My love and prayers will be with you.

I am so sorry Kathy. I know this is so hard...ive been thru alot lately too.
Im not sure where you are in TN...but there is a really nice psych in Memphis. His name is Dr. Amos. He works mostly with bariatric patients, b4 and after surgery. He sees alot of doctors patients, but the surgeon that Im seeing is Dr. Woodman in Memphis. Let me know if you are interested and I will get you Dr. Amos's #. I only saw him once, however, I would love to be able to see him every week, but I dont live in Memphis and its a long drive. But hes soo nice....He spent an hour talking to me and letting me talk...he joked around, made me feel comfortable. I would highly recommend him.

Thank you all so very much. You just don't know how much each and every one of you mean to me. I have a new resolve on life, and I have regrouped to fight until I'm 65. It may not happen today or tomorrow, but some where out there is the Dr. for me. I just need to trust God to show me the way. Again thank you, Kathy
