help in locating doctor

I am trying to locate a bariatric doctor who accepts Tenncare Select and who will perform the gastric bypass surgery. My health is getting worse and because of the weight I am having trouble standing and walking due to the pain in my back and knees. I also have high blood pressure and other illnesses due to the weight. My acid reflux is worse every day. If you can help me please do; I I forgot to mention that I live in Nashville Tennessee

Hi Barbara, I also have TennCare Select. My doctor is Glen Birkitt in Bristol Tn. He does have a long waiting list. I was put on his waiting list in April 2004. I go tomorrow to find out my surgery date. His # is 423-968-1861. Good luck!!! There are other doctors around that accepts your insurance, but a lot of them have not preformed this type of surgery a whole lot. If you call TennCare they will give you a list of surgeons that take it. You can also ask those doctors when you call if they know a good surgeon that does that type surgery, and takes the insurance. That is how I found Dr.Birkitt was through another surgeon that couldn't take me in. You can print out a list of surgeons from this site for your area. Just weed them out !! God Bless, Brenda

Dr. Lynch and Dr. McDowell at Baptist in Nashville both take TennCare Select! I am having my surgery on 04/05. They do everything for you!!! You can call Nancy their nurse and she will tell what to do! She had my surgery approved in about 3 business days!
