Dr. Husted

Hey everyone! I was wondering if anyone had some feedback on Dr. Husted?...Good AND Bad. I'm in Kentucky and wanting the DS and have heard that Dr. Husted is a very good surgeon. I was just curious to know what some of his patients have to say... Thanks so much! Jennifer

I know there must be something bad to say about Dr. Husted and his partner Dr. Spaw, but I just can't think of what it is. I don't think anyone is perfect, but they are pretty close. I had my surgery January 12, 2004 and it was amazing what a positive experience the whole thing has been. Their office is very easy to deal with, they treat you like a grown up, they answer messages, they answer email, they keep on time with appointments, etc. They have very informative seminars and you should try to go to one of them even if you end up with another surgeon for any reason. Where do you live?

I'm in South Central Ky and Nashville is only about 3 hrs away so it's not too far. The other Dr. that I have been researching is in Dayton but he only performs open ds and not lap. But I have heard more good things about Dr. Husted than anyone else. I also heard that he has only lost one patient...?? Not sure if it's true but it sounds like his success rate is pretty high. I'm hoping that since I'm pretty healthy and 24 (and with a BMI of 46 - I'm 6'2" and around 355) that hopefully I will have a good success rate as well! I just want to cover everything before I completely make up my mind. My spring break is next week and I'm thinking about going to one of the seminars...is it possible to have your consultation appointment the same day? And is this too short of notice?

Not only can you have your consult the same day - they encourage you to. I would call ASAP and see if they can get you in. I would say that they will do everything possible to make it happen. Wow! 6'2". I am 5'2" and always wished I was taller!!

Hi Jennifer, I didn't have either of these Dr.'s, but I have heard nothing but positive things on dr. Husted. Sometimes on the Discovery Health Channel, he will actually perform surgery on a patient for viewers to understand what all the patient had to go thru to get to the point of having surgery. He's the only one I've seen that does this. Best of luck with your journey. Kathy

Dr Spaw in the same office was my physician. You cannot find any other office full of people so compassionate and dedicated to what they do. The seminars are wonderful. Dr Spaw did ours and we had the opportunity to ask him questions directly. He tells you all the stuff, good and bad and will tell you their morbidity and mortality rates if you ask. I work for another provider in the same area and chose to have my surgery done by Dr. Spaw. If you really want to see what his patient's have to say, go to his website ccfos.com. They have a very informative site and answered questions from me that I posted on their message board before I was ever even a patient. Check them out, you'll be glad you did!

Hi Jen, I AM a product of Dr. Husted! He was wonderful to me and my husband as we learned about the DS. He did my surgery on April 2, 2004 and as of today I have lost 84 pounds...........gone forever. You will find no one with better bedside manners or a more caring doctor anywhere. Hi, I had lap RNy in November 2004 and Dr. Spaw was my surgeon he was wonderful. I would recommend him and his associates to anybody they are wonderful with pre op and post op care. I got sick the second night in the hospital with vomiting and Dr. Spaw called and come in to the hospital in the middle of the night to see me. He came and checked up on me everyday and also called.
