Just visiting. Hi.

Hi all. My name is Michelle, and I'm in Alabama. I lived in Knoxville for a few years, and I cant wait to get back. But that's not why Im posting.
My question is this: Is anyone having issues with the insurance companies? In Alabama, Blue Cross just passed new requirements for approval. There is a mandatory 6 month supervised diet, with consecutive weigh ins, 3 years documented obesity, medical problems, etc. They passed them to keep people from getting the surgery if they didn't need it, but then the people *****ally need it get the raw end of the deal.
So, I'm wondering, does BCBS of TN, or any other insurance company have these kinds of requirements? Or is it an Alabama only thing?
Thanks, you guys.

Hi Michelle, I think all the insurance companies have that ruling. Even Medicare is picky, but from what I have read from the other posters over the past year, there's no getting around it much. One person asked what they needed to do to get started. I said they should attend the seminar fill out the pack, get their PCP to get the tests all started and start the Dr. supervised diet and weigh-ins. Then they will have everything done for the surgeon, and his office won't have a lot of problems getting the insurance approval. I think the insurance companies want to make sure you will stick to the program if they shell out that kind of money. That you are serious about this. Plus, if you can't stick to the 6 month diet, how will you stick to it for life? Good luck in Alabama. I'm only an hour's drive from Knoxville. Kathy
