Hi Kip, who's seminar are you going too? The Dr. doing the seminar will explain everything, you'll be given a packet that tells you what your Dr. wants done and your PCP can do the referrals for these tests. Such as sleep apnea test, psych eval, nutrionist, if you have a hiatal hernia, you'll be referred to a GI Dr. Some Dr.'s require proof that you have a physical as a female and proof of a mammogram to make sure everything is ok. Once you get these things out of the way, get the test results, letter's from your Dr.'s that it's medically necessary for you to have the gastric bypass surgery, then submit all these to the surgeon when you make your first consult appointment. It also helps to check with your insurance whether they pay for the surgery and get it in writing, they may require 6 months of Dr. supervised diet and weigh in program. It has to be documented.
