What have your experiences been???
On average, how long have people had to wait to hear something from the insurance? I have United Healthcare and my surgeon's office submitted my package with all the pre-determination letters and test results supporting them on Jan 25th. I know it's only been three weeks but I'm anxious.
What have your experiences been?
I have a different insurance but I was told on average it takes 4-6 weeks. It was right around 4 for me. Have you called your insurance company to keep up with them? After 2 weeks I started calling probably every other day just to keep updated. They will tell you where they are in the process. Good luck and be excited! I had mine on December 14, 2004 and it has been a great experience for me. I will give you a couple of tips, if you would like to hear them....GET AN EPIDURAL IF THEY OFFER IT TO YOU AND ARE ABLE TO GET IT IN....it makes all the difference in the world. I was up walking 4 laps around the hall 1 hour after surgery and felt no pain. I felt no pain the entire time actually. Also, be prepared to gain some water weight while in the hospital. I gained 12 pounds! If you get low on potassium and they had to give you some in your IV DEMAND a numbing solution mixed in, like Latacaid! I had to get some Potassium and it was the worst pain I have ever felt in my life, it was the only bad experience I had. Good luck and email me if you want to chat or have any more [email protected].
