Does anyone have any suggestions for getting adjusted to sleeping with CPAP? I've had mine for a month now and it still wakes me up 3-5 times every night! It's so bad that I don't want to use it, especially if I have to get up early for something the next day. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks - Toni

Just thought I'd clarify a little. I have a nasal canula type mask that is very comfortable. What I'm having trouble with is adjusting to the pressure from the machine. When I hit the ramp button, I do just fine but when the machine is back up to full pressure is when it wakes me up. It causes an uncomfortable pressure in my ears and often forces my mouth open during the night. Thanks in advance for any suggestions you might have. T-

Hi Toni, I have been on a cpap for about 4 years, I recently had to go to a bi-pap as I'm at level 18. I am now hooked up with 2 litters of oxygen to help me breath. When I first got mine, I had to gradually get used to it, now I can't sleep without it. A lot of the time, it's the nasal mask. May not be adjusted right, or is the wrong one for you. Have you tried the gel mask? Make sure you ask for one that has the jel for the forehead also. I have tried several and I always come back to the jel one. You can boil it in ho****er for 3 minutes and then cool water to touch, place it on your face and press to mold around your nose. The only time I would even recommed the full nasal mouth mask is if you are congestedd. Also If you don't want to get pregnant, it's the best birth control. lol Seriously, contact the provider of your machine and ask them for help. I started out just resting in the afternoon, I would put my mask on, at night every other day for about 1-2 weeks, this gives you a break in period. After that, if you havee any further problems, I would contact the provider. You may need a different mask, or have the machine readjusted. Best of luck, any further questions don't hesitate to ask. Kathy, I've tried about six different masks. All the ones that cover my nose caused a lot of pain in my sinuses and the bridge of my nose, even the gel. My pressure is at 12 so it's not as high as yours but it is just wearing me out. I'm more tired than before I started using CPAP, at least then I didn't know I was waking up. I'm going to give it a couple more weeks and if it doesn't get any better, I'm going to ask for another sleep study to see if there may be something different we can do. Thanks for the note. Toni
