TN Care Select
Hi I just found out that whoever is on tncare, tn state medicade that when it comes time for your renewal, you won't be renewed. Minors in the home are the only ones qualified. My tncare/medicade expires on April 14,2005. I don't know at this point what I will do. I am still trying to have the surgery. But time is of the essense now. In two months I will only have my medicare. My prescriptions cost over $1000 a month and I only bring in $800 thru Social Security and the VA Pension. This has me very concerned because of the type of medicine I am on. With high blood pressure, diabeties, depression meds which will have to be weened from. I am on over 20 different meds on a monthly basis. So for all those who are about to lose their coverage, my prayers go out to you.
I don't know who told you that but my mother just renewed her tncare yesterday she had an appt. with DHS. Also even if the state was to do away with TNCare they would still have to offer medicaid. My understanding from the following websites is that a portion of adults will be cut off of tncare. Those adults are those that would not quailfy for medicaid because of too high of an income etc.. (for example those on tncare that pay premiums because they are technically uninsurable however they have a high enough income to pay for insurance. Check out the websites below. The first is for the TN Office of Justice aka TOJ. They are representing tncare patients. On thier homepage they have a link for if you are concerned about losing your TNcare. They also have a link to info about the "pickle amendment" "The Pickle Amendment is a law that helps some people who have Social Security get Medicaid. (In Tennessee, Medicaid is called TennCare.) Each January, the numbers that are used for the Pickle Amendment change" The TOJ is a non profit organization. The second link is the official tncare website that outlines all the proposed changes to tncare. Hope this helps.
