Hello everyone!! I was just curious...for those *****ceived a denial letter from insurance (especially Aetna) on the 1st or 2nd attempt at approval, can you tell me why? I'm just curious if you can be denied if you meet the basic requirements. Thanks! Lisa

My denial letter from BCBS of TN, which was a pre-determination letter to the surgeon, said that the procedure (lap-band) was excluded from my benefits. Sure you can be denied for meeting the basic requirements. I think it's called the "insurance jerk-around" testing to see if you are really serious. Shameful isn't it.

Thanks Laundrea for replying. I was afraid of that. I have not submitted anything to Aetna yet because I am trying to make sure everything is in order. Aetna will not cover the band procedure either. I looked into that first and on their website it states that the procedure is still in the experimental phase so they will not cover it. Thanks again for the info. Lisa
