Had my surgery 10-1-04 and have lost 60 lbs. and feeling great. My question doesn't have anything to do with gastric bypass, but know you guys would probably answer my question. My daughter's husband has been offered a job in Nashville, and most likely will be moving there. She wants me to go with them. I've lived all my life in Arizona. Sooo, whats your opinion of Nashville? She has a daughter with special needs and would be interested also in knowing if they provide good therapy there? Thanks for your time. If I go, of course, I will be needing a support group.

Thanks for the information. Good luck on your pending surgery. It's amazing how quickly you lose the weight. I've gone from a size 24 to 14. If there is any information you would like, just e-mail me.

Hi Rosalie! Congrats on your weight loss! I'm a native of Tennessee. I've lived here all my 32 years. With the exception of Aruba, I cant imagine living anywhere else. Its beautiful here. We have beautiful mountains and state parks. We try to extend our southern hospitality lol. The others who mentioned Vanderbilt Childrens Hospital are correct. Its a wonderful hospital. They saved my 5 year old daughters life and I love that place. Nashville is FULL of medical facilities and specialists in every field you can imagine. You didnt specify what type of special needs your grand daughter has, but my father in law works for the State of Tennessee's Special Education division. His job is to travel all over the state from school to school making sure the special education children are getting what they need. I would be happy to put you in contact with him if he can assist you with public schools. Please feel free to email me if you have any other questions or I can get any info for you. God bless! Hi Rosalei, Nashville is a vacation. Every weekend, you can go anywhere and really enjoy what Nashville has to offer. I lived there for a while and have one son living in Nashville. Between the various Dr.'s, hospitals, you also have the Grand ole Opry. You will love living there, and your granddaughter will get the best help at Vanderbilt. Congrads on the weight loss. There are a number of gastric surgeons there. Make the move. You'll love it. Kathy

Thanks for the response. Guess there is a lot of history there. Definitely want to go to the Grand Ole Opry. Was upset when they took it off t.v. Grew up listening to it on the radio. What can I say, country music is in my blood. hee, hee

Roselie. You have already received rave reviews on Nashville. I have been here for 38 yrs and love it. They people are some of the best in the world. Growing but yet very easy to get around. Vanderbilt has one of the best Children's Hospital and might I say just completed a brand you separate facility from Medical Center about 1 yr ago. If you come you would have to adjust to being slowed down. But is is beautiful from spring to fall. Come enjoy

Thanks sooo much for your response. Everyone on this web site are just wonderful with all their input. Sounds like we are really going to like it there. I've also heard that it's slower paced than here. That would be nice. Phoenix is getting to be like L.A.

I lived in Arizona for 17 years before moving to Nashville. I graduated from Corona Del Sol in Tempe. My sister still lives in Cave Creek. I've been in Nashville since 1989 and absolutely love it. It's very different from Arizona. Your daughter will probably go through some culture shock at first You can email me directly if you have more specific questions. I'll be happy to try and answer them. Tricia
