Jan 18 2005 I told Blue Cross "Shame on you" because they kept giving me the run around for almost one whole year. I called them every day and finally got my PCP in the act. The next day they called me to let me know I had been approved!!! I thought I would get a date soon but now I've been told by my surgeon's secretary that she will get back with me in a week. It seems like I have waited so long that I just want a date to look forward to. I am trying to walk and exercise more and more. I want my stamina to be as best it can be prior to surgery. I have so many questions that I need to make a list...like can I load up on liver and stuff to boost my iron before surgery? Can I do the same with calcium and B vitimins as well as regular vitamins? I have two friends who almost died on the table. I have some questions regarding their experience. I've already encountered a hospital staff infection from a past surgery at Saint Thomas. What can be done to prevent that? Am I now pre-disposed to getting a staff infection? So many questions and so few answers. I guess I will have to wait until my appointment.

Congrats on getting approved !!! Yes make a list for your doctor and ask so you will have all your questions answered before. If someone in the hospital comes to touch you and doesn't wash their hands or wear clean gloves ask them to ! Best to you, Linda

Hey Charlotte... Congrats on getting a date. When is it and what hospital are you using? You said you fought with BCBS for a year- what was the hold up? Why did you get your PCP in on the game so late? I sent in my paperwork to centennial the end of December and just now have all my information together to get my predetermination letter together to be sent to BCBS. I am just wondering what route you took. Congrats again.... Bryna
