Ready to get on with life...
I've recently decided that the Lap Band is for me, and I have this overwhelming sense of hope in my life again. It's amazing how much your outlook can change once you have hope for a better life again!
I'm pretty sure my insurance will deny my request (Cigna) as they say they don't approve bariatric surgery in my area. I've been told by their reps that they only approve the Lap Band in NC, NH, CA and another state. That's ok if they deny me, I guess. We are fortunate enough to be able to pay for the surgery out of pocket. It will drain our savings almost dry, but living again is very important to me.
Don't get me wrong, I still go out and do things with my 2 year old, but keeping up with him is enormously hard. I'm sure each of you understand what that's like.
Just wanted to post and introduce myself. I'll be working with Dr. Charles Morton III, so if you all know of him, please share what you know! I've heard great things about him, but personal stories are the best!
Congratulations to each of you!
Take care,
Ashleigh
Congrats on getting started Ashleigh, I wish you the best of luck with your choice of surgery. I have not had my surgery yet because I am still waiting on insurance approval. I considered the lap band as well, and when I checked with my insurance they told me that I would have to prove that it was medically necessary for me to have the band instead of gastric bypass. So, I am going with the bypass. I am hoping to hear by the 25th of this month on my approval. Wish me luck.
So am I... ready to get on with life! I feel the exact same way! I am waiting on approval right now and hope to know something by the end of the week. I have BCBS PPO OF IL. I am so very nervous! I hope they approve me! I have decided either way I am having the surgery, even if I have to pay out of pocket. I am going to Dr. Morton too. A friend of mine that I work with had him do her surgery. You would not even believe how great she looks! She had it in July and is down 90 lbs and is wearing size 8's. My main priority is to be healthy for my kids. I have a 3 yr. old girl and a 6 mo. old boy. I'm 30, and it seems like things are just going downhill health wise for me since the big 30 and the last baby! I want to be there for my kids for a long time!
It is amazing how it can make you feel just knowing that it's in the future. I refuse to buy any new clothes. I have a big interview next week and I bought a cute tweed jacket to wear last night, but I am keeping the tags on it and bringing it back just as soon as the interview is over!! Ha- I know that's probabaly awful, but like I said, I am determined to have this surgery by April either way! My husband is supportive, even if we have to pay out of pocket, so where there's a will there's a way!! Good luck and keep us updated! I'll post as soon as I know something about my approval!!!
