Has anyone had problems with sneezing and a runny nose when they started using their CPAP? I have been sneezing for four weeks now and I am ready to go insane!! I don't know what to do. I have tried taking Allegra, but that hasn't worked. Any suggestions? I am still waiting to hear the decision on my appeal, so I may have to use this machine for a while before I can have surgery.

You may need to turn up the heat on the machine it sounds like your sinuses are getting dry out and that will help to keep them from doing so. I know it sounds strange but it does hellp, I am not a dr this is what was told to me by my respt theraptist

Hi Debbie, contact the people that set up your cpap and ask for a humidifier. Most machines can be for heat or cool mist. I prefer the cool over the heat, easier to sleep with cool air coming from my humidifier. You may want to see an allergist. It may not be the machine, but something that is triggering the sneezing. I can't take allerga but have found claritan works great. I sneeze often especially after it rains. I don't run fans, or have open windows due to being allergic to the mold in the trees and grass especially after it rains. Also you may have developed allergic reaction to house dust, or dust from a gas furnace filter, and your machine will pick it up. I am allergic to that. My allergist said about 75% of obese persons with sleep apnea are also have allergies affecting their breathing. Best of luck sweetie. Most insurances pay for an allergist. Love ya Kathy
