If you have a hernia and also want them to scoop up all the extra skin at the same time that they fix the hernia, are you supposed to go to a regular surgeon or a plastic surgeon? Does the choice of which one to go to affect whether insurance will pay for the whole thing? How dangerous is it to put off having a hernia fixed until you feel you have lost all of the weight you are going to lose?

Hey Sister!! Happy (almost) anniversary! I have had a hernia since month 2. It used to be very small, but has gotten much bigger as time progresses. I have been to THREE different consults with plastic surgeons, and the hernia would be covered, but no luck on the plastic surgery part. Since I want the surgery done at the same time, I am still looking instead of fixing the hernia and then later the saggy yucky skin...I think a surgeon can do a panni definitely, but that a plastic surgeon would have much more experience with the PS part..But thats just my opinion tho... Remember Kathy? I remember reading she had something like 3 or 4 hernias and didnt get them removed until this past summer. So they were more of a nuisance than painful...Although I wonder how big mine will grow, ugh!! She went to Miss Wanda's plastic surgeon, who I loved but cant get the PS part covered.... Im at such a rotten plateau right now, and am scared these last 25-30 lbs will not come off...How about you? You and the hubby looked AMAZING in your Christmas cards on Dr Husted's website. I am so very proud of you!! Donna
