gateway hospt. in clarksville BEWARE

It was horrible, the aide dropped me in the floor even after I told him I was slidding because he didn't know how to use the bed controls, luckily the resp therapitist walked it and yelled for hlep becasue she told him to press the call button but he just stood there, Also I had to wait 6.5 hours before I was took to surgery from the time that I was told to be at the hopst. imagine waiting scared as you can be for nearly 7 hrs it was nerve racking then all the things that happen after surgery like after I done the swallow test to make sure my band was placed right I told them I had to use the restroom they knew I had just woke up less then 30 mins ago so I was still shakey and I told them that but they just pointed the way and left me alone I barely made and to be honest I do not know how. After all that I told 3 people that my call button didn't work they didn't check it then my iv came out so I was not getting pain meds for 45 mins durning that time I had to physical yell for help the first person I told said that it was fine and the knot that came up was due to me laying me hand on the bed he left like that until I yelled again. The next day when I told my dr DR Hruska that they dropped me she was a unconcern she just said that well how tall are you 5 ;5 well you didnt' fall very far did you

Unfortunately, Gateway is the sort of hospital that you never know what to expect when you get there. I have had very good service, and also very poor service there... it is never an "in-between", or "happy medium".. They are severely understaffed, and since the pay is so much better in Nashville many nurses decide to commute there. I have seen improvements, especially in the past 6 months, but there is a LONG way to go...Make sure you file a formal complaint with TnCare or whatever INS. you may have, so others do not go thru what you unfortunately did...Best of luck to you! I completely understand what you are saying. But some of issues was not due to staffing it was pure incomptence (spelling?) I hope things contiune to get better and I didn't file a complaint at the hospt. and I will file one w/ my ins. thanks for the suggestion. I just wanted to say to all who are looking at that hospt. please have someone to to stay with you so they can help you and spk for you when you can not. Thanks again . and best of luck

I hope it gets better too there, as I know so many here in Clarksville *****fuse to go there; they'd rather take their chances somewhere else. It has such a bad reputation, and I can see why when they treat people like you were treated. You are right, that was INCOMPETENCE, plain and simple!! I feel so bad you went thru that Mariea, and hope you are doing much better now. I dont know much about lap but email me if you ever need to vent. The first 2-3 weeks are SO hard!! Please dont forget to call your insurance on the complaint; Gateway is under alot of scrutiny and like i said, the changes are coming along so slowly...if people who have suffered like you did come forward to voice what happened to them, hopefully the changes come faster. My sister had a complaint because of a mix up in her childs throat culture result, she was IRATE!! She has TnCare and the lady who handled the complaint was very kind. Thanks again, So far I have been ok. but it has been kinda of rough I have not weighed myself I am scare to. but today I but on a pair pf pants that was kinda of tight and now they are looser so you know I told everyone who would listen. luckily I have had alot of support including from this web site my family and friends are very happy for me. I hope soo much that the clarksville hospt. gets alot better everyone reguardless of city size or financial limitions shld get good care.

i'm so sorry that you had to go through that. my outlook on gateway is that i wouldn't even take my dog there! it's awful. i've only been there a few times and that was all it took. i will drive the 50 minutes to nashville because it is well worth it. they certainly need to get their act together there.

I am so sorry to hear about your unfortunate experience with Gateway. I live in middle southern tn and I had 2 drs to go to. One was Dr Woodman in Memphis and the other Dr. Hruska in Clarksville. I truly wanted to go to Clarksville because it was closer to my home. They refused to see me, said I lived to far away (over 200 miles) which is not true (actually it's 143 miles). I was more or less forced to go to Memphis and I can't thank clarksville enough for turning me down. I had the best Dr and staff and the hospital, Methodist Germantown was the best. The staff at the hospital could not have been nicer or more attentive to my needs. I'm so sorry you had to go through that and I feel so good knowing I had the best possible care you could have. Anyone thinking of going to clarksville call Dr. Woodman in Memphis. You will never regret your deceision. You deserve the best and that's what you get with Dr. Woodman. fran from tn

Both of my children were born at gateway because that's the only hospital that my doctor delivered at and my experience was pretty good. Some of the staff really care and others don't. I'm sorry your experience was so bad but keep in mind they will be sending you a survey about your experience there or at least they used to so maybe that might be a good time to let them know where things were messed up!! Thank everyone so much for everyone's concern, and sympthay. It really means alot. I just hope that no one else has to experience what I did. I am taking measures to assist in the issue. I have contacted my insurance company to file a complaint and I have already filed one with the hospt. Thanks again I hope everyone has had a very Happy New year
