PRAYERS NEEDED.......
Today is my last work day for this year and the last thing I did before leaving was to fax my new healthcare card (I went from POS to PPO) and all my paperwork to Centennial. All my hopes and prayers are riding with that fax. If I won the lotery, I would pay cash and have the surgery tomorrow but since I am on a budget, I will have to pray that BCBS agrees with my PCP and with me and sees that the WLS is medically necessary (for my mental health as well as my physical health).
I am not expecting a miracle, I just want to feel better. I know I will never be a size 10, but I cannot be on blood pressure meds. at age 30 and high cholesterol meds and ....well, you get the picture.
I have seen so many people on this site get letters and notes of encouragement and right now I need you prayers. I have chosen the hospital, the doctor and the place I am going for my 100 lb. loss celebration. I even know what my last meal is going to be. All I need is that approval letter. Since I know it is all in God's hands, I need prayer warriors on high alert.
Anxiously prayerful,
Bryna Grant
I just had my lapband on 12/17/04 and it was hard I am on tenncare so I was dealing with the concern of the reform so forth. But it sounds like you have put alot of thought in your decasion just do what the isurance company ask of you just keep with them and as it is said repeatly on this site ask for a insurance case manager they will help find out what they need and the insurance company policies. My thoughts is with you.
Congrats on your surgery. I certainly wish you all the best. Thank you for the words of encouragement. I am sure I will be searching for more as I get closer to my goal.
My main problem is I have only lived here for about 4 years and the last 2 years I have had a seriously unsupportive PCP who promoted Atkins and that was all and after over a year or two of trying, I had gained about 20lbs.
Once I left him, I got my records and not ONCE did he ever cite my weight as an issue I talked to him about. There is no record of our hour long conversations about nutrition, health, weight and the like. I am concerned that all the work I did for the last year (specifically) will go down the drain because he did not document my records. My present PCP looked at all my co-morbidities and believed I was a prime candidate right away. I just hope that will be enough for BCBS!!!
Thanks again and happy losing- I hope to join you soon.
Bryna
Hi Bryna, I'm a post-op myself, and live in Hendersonville too!
I don't know much about Centennial nor Dr. Houston. Most of my dealings (non-WLS related) have been with Baptist, Skyline, and Vanderbilt. My surgeon has priviliges at Vandy, so that's where I'll be doing my surgery. I have to attend the seminar there next month.
Luckily, my PCP was all for the WLS. I'd asked my neurologist about it and all he did was up the WL meds he has me on. Still haven't worked either. LOL But, my PCP did the referral for me the day I asked him about it.. faxed it right on over to Vanderbilt.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for ya, and if nothing else ya know there's someone here at "home" that knows what you're going thru.
Bryna I want to wish you the very best..Above all, I want to urge you to NOT give up!! Stay determined and positive. Centennial is a Wonderful hospital, and tho I do not know him personally, I have heard many good things about your doctor of choice. I will be wishing the very best for you and for your health...
