john deer denied me

i got my denial letter today and it said that i was denied because, i did not have physicians supervised nutrition six months within the last year,and at least three consecutive months prior to the surgery date. i had where i went to a weight loss clinic and it was from two years ago and i can not use it so what should i do now appeal or what i am so confused on what to do.

Hey Derrick, Sorry you were denied. I am waiting to find out if I am approved. They told me to check back the middle of this week. I know how you feel. When I first started I was also enrolled in weigh****chers. John Deere refused to acknowledge those classes. I made several calls and even submitted a letter from my primary care physician, but they wouldn't even consider it until I did six months supervised diet. I just bit the bullet and started going to my doctor and weighing in and meeting with a nutritionist. Hopefully, now they will approve me. Although I live in Greeneville, I work in Morristown and I see several people from Morristown on the boards. I know several people here in Greeneville that have already had the surgery and they are doing great. I hope I get to find out pretty soon. Good luck to you and maybe someone out there can give you some good advice on dealing with the insurance companies.

Hi Derrick. Sorry to hear about the denial. Don't let it stop you. All you have to do is satisfy the 6 month supervised diet requirement. Many insurance companies require that. Make an appointment with your PCP, have them document your weight and give you a diet. Follow that diet to the letter, keep regular appointments for weigh-ins to prove you're following it. Once you've completed the 6 month diet you resubmit your claim with the documentation from your physician. There are many people on these boards who have faced the same situation and they can offer more advice. The important thing is not to give up. You just have to keep jumping through hoops for the insurance company. I know having to wait another 6 months really stinks but it will go faster than you realize. I'll keep you in my prayers.
