post op question
ok today was the first time I have had any real pain. at first I thoughtok I over ate but then realized it was not where my stomach is now but about where it used to be. the pain was intense more like a severe cramp that came and went. so my question is? is this lactose intolerence? as I have never been lactose intollerent I have nothing to compare it to, was it maybe just a lot of bad gas it was not constant pain, sort of came and went much like a cramp does. no nausea, I still have some of the cramp pain and its been about 3 hours since it started but it seems to be abating? I was thinking ok maybe dumping but no chills or sweats or nausea, just the pain from cramping. I did eat a bit more cottage cheese mixture than usual today. I am also wondering if maybe its just the diarreah associated with the diet. yes I do have diaraheah once my bowels finally started to move this morning. and my history is that when ever I got diahreah in the past it was always always associated with cramping. it just never lasted this long nor was it this intense. so any thoughts would be helpful. I am also going straight back to liquids for a while to see if maybe pureed is the cause.
Joe, from all the seminars and nutrionist from the various Dr.'s I have seen only to be denied, they all said liquids for the first week or two. Talk to your nutrionist about eating the cottage cheese right after surgery. They may want you to stay on liquids for a few more days. Good luck, buddy, hope you get to feeling better. hugs, Kathy
It could be one of two things. A the cramping is from the diarreah you are having or B you are dumping because you ate a bit too much. Dumping doesn't always have to have chills, fever, sweats or nausea. Ive had that feeling when I was first post op and a lot of it had to do with me going ahead and having that extra bite. If it persists Id call your surgeon. If it was lactose intolerence you would get sick. As in nausous. Hope this helps*huggles*
Joe,
The cramping is normal along with the diarrhea. It does get better, but the bowel movements are mostly soft all the time even to the point of pasty. More of a nusiance than any thing else. I'm glad you are doing well and I bet you just loved Dr. McGrath-Weaver didn't you. I haven't posted in a long long time. My life has been so hectic over the last month it isn't funny.
Keep up the good work.
