Hello everyone, sorry haven't been around much, stick mainly to the lapband forum, but just thought I'd drop a post & let everyone know I am doing GREAT!!! Was banded 9/9/04 & have had one fill, got it last Thursday at my post op appt. Feeling some restriction & glad for it, I am ready to start dropping these lbs!! I'm down 18 lbs & one size, from a 26 to a 24. I will be so happy to be under 250, then I will finally be closer to weighing 200 than 300!! Hope everyone else is doing great. BTW Have ya'll heard much about the OH Regional Meeting in Knoxville in November? I so want to go & I hope lots of ya'll do too. TTYS Candi 276/257/150

Hi Candie, that is great on the part of going down a size. Wish I was doing the same, but it won't happen. So for every pound or inch you lose, lose one for me. Keep up the great work. Question, why and what is a fill in on a lap band? Love ya Kathy

Hey Kathy, I was so sorry to read on your profile that you don't think you're going to be able to have surgery, I don't understand that, I thought Medicare covered this surgery? About the fills. The lapband is a silastic band that they place around your stomach, kind of like a wris****ch, but it's like a balloon. It has to be "inflated" with saline in order to give restriction & that is what we call a fill. With the band you get fills to give you the restriction you need so that you don't overeat. This surgery is exclusively restrictive, so that's why I had to get a fill. I am doing great too. Thanks for the encouragement. TTYS Candi
