Protein, Protein, Protein
Hey,
For all of you who are post-op or even those of you who are going to be post-op in the near future, I have found an awesome source of protein that is unbelievably good tasting and has a ton of protein in it.
It's called 100% whey protein and it's 20grams of protein a scoop. You take 3 scoops and put them in 10 ounces of cold water and shake it up. Tastes like a chocolate milkshake. A good chocolate milk shake. You can find it at the GNC store and it is on sale right now for $19.50 for what would be a two week's supply. I can't say how much a relief it is to get 60 grams of protein in in one 10 ounce drink. I can eat 15 grams of protein by accident the rest of the day and still get in the rest that I need for my 24 hour period. I'm jumping for joy.
I was in a weight loss slump but I'm feeling that with this stuff I'm gonna start losing again and quickly. Between this drink and the exercising I'm gonna be dancing in the street.
You all have a great day!!
Anne
I bet this protein tastes better than the one that you have. I couldn't stand the soy protein.
This is what I've had today...
10 oz protein drink 60 grams protein 390 calories
1 egg scrambled 6 grams protein 75 calories
1 slice ham 1 oz 8 grams protein 40 calories
3 oz fish 25 grams protein 80 calories
For dinner I'll have 3 oz chicken breast 93 calories
1 oz vegetables 15 calories
1 oz pasta 25 calories
That should round out the day at 718 calories and approximately 121 grams of protein. To me that's a good day....
I know it sounds great to get that much protien in at one sitting however, remember those of us that have had RNY also have malabsorb issues. So if you were to take in those 60g of protien at once odds are not much of it is being absorbed. The nutritionist I talked with said its better to just get the protien in throughout the day instead of bulking up with one or two items that are high in protien. This is just my humble opinion though. *huggles*
There's a possibility that the protein goal the nutritionist sets for all of us is on the high side anyways because of the malabsorption. I go back to the Nutritionist and the Doctor on the 3rd of September and I'll ask them at that time if what I'm doing is wrong. I was only getting in between 35-45 grams per day prior to doing this. Yesterday I got in 120 grams so I guess it's ok. But believe me I'll ask. Thanks for the information.
