when will i get my energy back
Let's not be too harsh guys. It does seem like he is falling off the wagon, but he took the time to post and share his situation with us. He is obviously struggling and I know we all want to be able to help in any way that we can.
Now that we have gotten our "tough love" out of the way - remember the reason you had surgery in the first place. No fried foods, no sugary sweets, no high carb foods and no soft drinks.
Get your excess weight off and then we can suggest to you some good "substitutes" for the above mentioned foods. Oh, and take it easy during the first 6 weeks!
Take care and let us know if you need anything.

I support and admire anyone who's had WLS and is trying to better their health and their lives, but we have to take responsibility and accountability for ourselves too. It's more than just "tough love" - it is plain fact. Too many think this surgery is a MAGIC CURE and they can do as they please afterwards and still lose weight and be healthy. Well, you can also damage your body or even die if you don't follow the rules, at least to some degree. If his posts are truthful, then he definitely needs to get in touch with his Doc and Nutritionist, and find a support group to attend, and fast. Otherwise, he's gonna be in big trouble, or worse, very soon. Nobody should be cutting grass, weedeating, moving furniture, or doing heavy lifting or extreme exercise at 3 weeks out from a major surgey - that's just insane and irresponsible. Nor should they be eating fried foods, pizza and drinking carbonated drinks, especially at 3 weeks post-op. Heck, that's not even to the puree food stage yet. The innards are not anywhere near healed yet, and damage can be done much easier than some may believe. Common sense needs to be used.
I just buried a good friend last Friday. It appears he may have damaged his pouch by eating solid foods too soon, at only 3 weeks post-op. He was feeling and doing great until he "messed up" on Memorial Day and ate solid food at just 3 weeks post-op. From that point on, he had problems. Little did he, or anyone, realize just how severe his problems really were. Since there was no autopsy, we will never be 100% positive of the cause of death, but I know he was doing great until he ate solid food way too early.
In this case, I think he's either jerking our chain or he's in real danger of hurting himself, or even worse. Not everyone is a sugar coater and a hugger - sometimes you have to call BS and/or stupidity when you see it. Sometimes a boot up the azz is better than a hug and a pat on the shouder.
That's just my opinion, and yeah, I know what opinions are like.

first off let me thank everyone that has posted. let me clear things up, i just asked about the diet cokes, i have not had one and will not have one after doing some reading. on the fried squash deal i pealed the fried part off , but it still is not good for me after doing some reading, and the Pizza i just took the cheese and pepporin off and ate it, it was jsut a pinch with my fingers, but i know it wasnt good for me now. i have been getting my protein in and fluids in , and just wonder how long until my energy would come back.
on the mowing grass deal, i have a riding lawn mower and a friend of mine does the weed eating. it is just killing me to sit around and do nothing, while i have my wife at work all day and my 3 girls coming home from school and i dont have the energy to do anything with them.
on a side note my wife is having rny surgery on july 20 and i just was trying to get some info from all you guys and gals about energy, so i will know if i will be able to wait on her and take the girls to school and still have energy to go to work.

Mhookit, you will find the folks here passionate about wls. It's not that they are mad at you or want to find a reason to rant & rave... all of us have walked down that road and really REALLY want to see each and every single person on this board succeed... Unfortunately, sometimes that does require some tough love... it's not easy to be corrected because I used to say "Hey, what I weigh and what I eat are none of your d*#% business." But, as part of a support group, a weight loss support group, yes really when you signed up as a member and began to post, really you were asking for others' advice.
We really do care. Honest! We're not mean people... we just want to see you succeed... Hope all is going well for you and GREAT job in getting your protein in!

Great point Mel.
Now that you've been reading up and asking questions you know how important it is not to jeopardize your health and why things are done the way they are.
So you now have a great benefit in prepping your wife before her surgery.
You have had major surgery they say weakness can (now I said can) last up to a year. But in most cases you feel remarkable better in 4 weeks. If you have periods where you feel sluggish make sure you are getting go vitamins, protein and fluid and the best way is keep a daily journal with everything going in and how much.
The reason were concern about the lifting of more then about 5 lbs is because of the surgery you are very susceptible for a hernia which would really suck.
So protecting your pouch from a ulcer or hernia is so important.
Being a guy we probably beat up on you a little more because we knew you could handle it. Welcome to the board! C'ya Bob

It's great to see another couple doing this journey together. Me and my wife Missy, who posted above, as well had surgery close together like you and your wife have and are going to. It's great to have the support and understanding of your spouse, being that they are or will be going through the same things. It's tough at times too, but stick together and you'll do great. Congratulations on both of you making this journey together, you'll be healthier, skinnier and happier before you know it.
Keep posting with any questions, there are alot of great people here in all phases of the journey and we're all here to learn from and help each other out.

Yep, Mel and Bob hit the nail right on the head, my friend. Like I said before, I'm not always huggy and kissy about things, but it is because I want to make sure folks understand that this surgery is only a tool to help you succeed. Just like a lawn mower won't cut the grass if you don't start it and operate it correctly. And if you operate it wrecklessly, you can get yourself hurt. Everyone here wants to see each person succeed at their journey and live a healthier, happier and longer life. Just because I tell it like I see it doesn't mean I don't care - it's just my way of trying to keep folks on track and make them think about what they are doing and what they are supposed to do.
Besides, there's plenty enough of huggers here already. LOL
So hang in there, STICK TO YOUR PROGRAM AND THE RULES, keep asking questions, read and research, and you will succeed.
We're here for ya.
