So..after some prodding... (err... encouragement!) from Michael and Melinda, i created an account on thedailyplate.com .

Starting today, I am going to keep a log of everything I put in my mouth (FOOD people..get your minds out of the gutter!).

Ok... enough of the sarcasm.  ;-)

I am going to do it for the next week to make sure I am living within the guidelines during my 'honeymoon' period. I will also watch to see if tracking my intake corresponds with any additional weight loss (compared to when I wasn't tracking).

Now, I will admit that I do not want to track food intakes for the rest of my life (I am out enjoying life now), but I made a committment to this surgery and new lifestyle so I need to make sure I am staying on the path to SUCCESS.

A big thank you to all the people who have encouraged and helped me over the past few months (Melinda, Susan, Tammy, Mike, and Michael). Support groups are fine, by friends that truly care about you are PRICELESS. So THANK YOU!

:-)

Good for you Steve! You will be glad you did...

oops! I had bread on my mind obviously... Yes, the dailyPLATE.com. LOL!

Just for grins, I'll update everyone with my results later. I just realized that by lunch time, I will already have consumed 14 grams of carbs. That only leaves me 1 carb left for dinner!

Better stick with a broiled chicken breast tonight....

At both of our support groups next month (July 7th for band group, July 14th for the primary group) we will be launching RealizeMySuccess which is a great online tool for tracking both your intake, (food plus your water consumption, daily vitamins, etc.) AND tracking your exercise output on a daily basis. I hope you will all be able to make it!

 Hey Pam,

When Vanderbilt was using the Realize Band, they were also using the RealizeMySuccess website.  They've since switched back to the LapBand brand band, and you can't (at least before) use all the tools on the site without a serial number from the band that you got.

So is the site you guys are launching the Realize-Realize site or something based on it?  I have lots of sites I like (fitday, bodybugg) that do tracking, but I loved the Realize site because your medical team could check in on it and see how you were doing.

Is Centennial teaming up with Johnson & Johnson to give them full access or are you going to use the limited access version?

Maaaan, I wish I didn't have a meeting at work on the 7th!  Otherwise, I'd come check it out!   It's a nice site!

Thanks,
Denise

Denise, I'm glad you've had some experience with the site - it is pretty cool. It is the Realize-Realize () site. We will be able to give all of our patients access to most of the features; you are correct that previously you needed the 16 digit access code that comes with your band to gain full access. I will find out more details over the next few weeks.

You can always come to our meeting on the 14th, it's not the "band" group, but we always have band patients at that group too.

OK.. here are my totals for the day:

Calories- 395
Fat-  19g
Carbs- 15g
Sugar- 4g
Protein- 81g

HOWEVER.. this was only because I was tracking it. Had I not been, I would have eaten double this amount (extra protein shake before bedtime, a light afternoon snack of dry roasted edamame, etc).

I cannot wait to lose all the extra weight and be in the "maintenance" stage so I can incorporate a teeny bit more food. =)

Steve, I really like The Daily Plate...  it lets you refigure the stats so easily if you cut the portion size...  for example, if its a cup, and I eat 1/2 up, I just put .5 of a serving and it does all the math.  That is such a great tool!  also, you can put in your food BEFORE eating it, play around with the stats and see if youwant to eat the entire thing, a half of it, a fourth of it...  so you can still have a little of your edamame or something else while still planning all the other food intake for the day...

So I weighed myself this morning... and I lost 2 lbs staying under 15 grams of carbs! So, my food intake is now being modified and I will start using the thedailyplate.com going forward.

You guys are great. :-)
