Hi Kim,
When's your surgery? How long are they going to keep you? Any longer than "normal," since you're an out of state patient? I had the band at Vanderbilt, which was outpatient, so I don't know how long they typically keep RNY patients.
Less is more when thinking of stuff to take to the hospital. The mandatory comfy clothes and slippers, lip balm and pillow. I also had hand lotion (hate having dry skin). Isabel is right, when you're not snoozing, you'll be sipping and walking, so bringing a load of books and magazines and similar stuff is not really necessary.
I'm sorry to hear about your marriage. I don't know anything about your personal cir****tances, but sometimes it can be emotionally threatening to the other spouse when you decide to step up and take care of yourself.
I hope all goes well!
Denise
