New to Board.....

Hi, I'm Cathy from Clarksville ..........have been reading OH boards (Tennessee and surgery specific) for a few months & finally decided  to try and see if I could figure out how to post...(sad but true - I am no techie).  Reading and learning from your posts over the past months helped SO MUCH  when I had my surgery just over two weeks ago.  Thanks to all of you!.

I had the Gastric Sleeve on May 18th...Dr. Houston is my surgeon and I'm glad to say things went very well.....and no big (bad) surprises, thanks to all of you who have shared your experiences. I was NOT surprised when I had the pain in my neck and shoulder area - knew it was due to gas from the surgery.  I was (am) surprised at how little actual pain I had, just some discomfort, no need for pain meds after the 4th day after surgery and that was more for the gas pain (and so I could sleep).  Oh, yeah...... loved, loved, loved,  that pain pump at the hospital.....kind of like that "easy button " you see on the TV commercials.

Thanks again - looking forward to meeting some of you at support group meetings, etc.

I had the sleeve with Dr. Dyer.  Have you had any nausea?  I have lots.

Prior to having surgery I was VERY worried that I might have a problem with nausea , but I haven't had hardly any.  Really, I only had it  when I was trying to drink certain protein drinks and when I tried taking the Bariatric Advantage multi-vitamins, but that's about it.

Thanks for the reminder (just popped a Bariatric Advantage calcium lozenge!)

Congrats on your recent surgery and welcome to the board!  I'm glad you found us and figured out how to post--you did just fine, no advanced techie degree required!

I agree that it is great to learn stuff here--you're never really prepared for the surgery until you have it, but all the wise info shared here helps considerably!  Moreso even than just the classes and pre op appointments, I think,.

I'm glad you're doing well and be sure to hang around!
