Issue with achey bones

All,

Last night I had an issue with my hands and arms aching (like I had arthritis). If I moved either arm too quick or in a certain direction I would feel a slight sting, and they both ached in general even when there wasn't any sharp pains.

To give you some quick background, I have never had arthritis (the aches only started after the WLS) & I take all my vitamins daily (including my 4 calcium citrates). I also get my daily protein and water intake in.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this after their surgery?

Also, in case it may be related- after surgery if i sit in a chair for over 20 mins, my back butt/tailbones start to hurt and I have to stand up.

I am young (36) so it's odd that these things have suddenly cropped up since the surgery last month.

Thanks for the feedback and input as always!

Here's what I take daily:

1000mg total Calcium Citrate (w/ 400 iu of Vitamin D3)... and also 4000 iu of Vitamin D (2 drops)

Ha! You are a hoot. Maybe it could be from that! I may take extra Calcium Citrate just to be on the safe side...

Time to go home and enjoy some leftovers from Genghis. Yum!

My arthritis in my hips knees and feet has gotten better since surgery, but the arthritis in my neck and hands hasn't--makes since with the weight-bearing joints.  But the last couple of weeks, every time a weather front moves in I ache all over!  Not sure if this is your problem or not--somethiing to think about. I am with Erika, my hands, shoulders, arms, hips, knees, etc...  have gotten better with weight loss.

Perhaps a hot shower, moist heat is good for overworked joints.

Good luck and I hope you feel better soon!

Ditto...my joint pain has gotten better & better the more weight I lose.  I do find that after workouts/running I am stiffer the next morning, though....but that's attributable to the workout.  I can't imagine that the joint pain is secondary to the WLS....you may not be moving as much since surgery & sometimes sitting in one position can cause joint pain....just a thought.  I hope it gets better....

My joints feel better since WLS, but OH MY ACHING" TAIL BONE!   When I sit for a little while it hurts like heck.  My husband says the tail bone padding is melting away.  (LOL)  I have read about this happening on other threads, but I just didn't pay attention much.  I wish I had.  I wonder if it;s a common thing.   I hope it goes away!   If not, I'm going to get me one of those hemorrhoid cushions and carry it with me EVERYWHERE (LOL)

I guess I would gladly trade a big bottom for an aching tailbone any day of the week!

I'm with Mel...it's the wii fit bowling. LOL

As for the tailbone issue, I got a cushion at Bed, Bath & Beyond (BB&B) that is a wedge with a U-shaped cutout in the bac****ep it in my recliner at home and take it with me on any long car rides. I used to use it in my chair at work but now I have an ergonomic chair so my butt doesn't hurt from sitting at work.

Get used to the tailbone pain, it's part of the price we pay for the weight loss and improved health. I think it may also be God's nudge to get us off our butts and moving.
