Hey y'all, it's time to get moving!
For the newbies, IDGOMB stands for, "I did get off my butt," and is our how did you move today thread. Whomever gets moving first for the day is welcome to start it, and the rest of us join in.
The last few weeks for me have been irregular with respect to routine and structure. I need routine and structure in order to stick with my plan. So I am getting off my butt, wearing my body bugg (pedometer, calorie burn reader) and looking for some public accountability!
I've just joined the rehab gym at Vandy. It's a 5 minute walk from my desk, has great equipment and is staffed with people who think in terms of orthopedics. I don't have any heart or lung problems, just obesity related joint issues. So I think they'll help me come up with a joint friendly routine to get me in shape, keep my hip bursitis in check and to get me motivated. They also have a teeny-weeny pool I'd love to use! I'll have to sneak in a camera and take a picture! It's adorable!
So here's what I've done today and what I plan to do:
:: 20 minute walk from the parking lot (done!)
:: 10-15 minutes on recumbent bike (will do at 3pm)
:: 20 minutes of leg stretching and strengthening exercises (3pm PT)
:: possibly walk to my car for another 20 minutes
What have you done today to move? Who's NEXT???

I too have slacked on the workouts this week and the posts.
We went to Washington DC on the Harley this weekend. So I got lots and lots of walking in on Sat and Sun, we walked (till I could not walk no more) and looked at like everything there to see. I loved it.
The ride was about 1500 miles all together, that was tiring. I need a vacation from my vacation...lol
BUT today.....Walked for 30 mins. Gonna do arms with weights before I go to bed.

Wow, I can't imagine riding 1500 miles on a bike. My butt hurts just thinking about it. But the weather has been great for riding, so I bet you guys had a fantastic time!
Good job on the 30 minute walk, especially with a saddle sore behind! (or at least I have one out of sympathy!) Hope the arm workout went well!
HUGS!!!

You rock, Micheala! The kettle bell routine sounds kinda fun! I used to not enjoy working out but now I LOVE that muscle soreness after that reminds you of how hard you worked.
How heavy is your kettle bell? I have to stop buying stuff, though. At least until I use the stuff I already have. I can't wait to start at the gym tomorrow! I go right after PT and will stay there until time to go to my car and head to Kenny and Missy's support group meeting! Yaaaay!

I feel bad posting here (b/c it's a tennessee forum and i'm in SoDak) but i need major help. i know denise and love her dearly. i'm 4 mons out now and i'm not moving very much-at all. i go on walks at work for my 15 min breaks but i've fallen out of my kick butt routine. i was working out 6 days a week and was feeling AMAZING, UNSTOPPABLE and losing pretty good but now I'm lucky if i get an hour's worth of work in a week. it's so sad. i'm eating out more again b/c i don't plan and prepare. does making your lunches before hand and packing a gym bag really help? i feel so stupid b/c i KNOW how working out makes me feel (and i have a gym for FREE through my work but excuses say, can't go after work b/c it's too busy and too many people there, i'm left waiting for a machine). i should've joined the other gym that you pay for monthly that has a pool, sauna, a million cardio machines and a track to walk/run on (i CANNOT run on treadmill, don't know why-just can't). now what? how do you hold yourselves accountable? thanks for letting me vent. xoox, sooner

SOOOOOOONER!!!!
First off, LOOK AT YOU! OMG, you look amazing! Have you looked at your before directly next to your most recent pictures??? That ought to get you hopping with excitement right there! And holy crap, you're in the 180s!?!? Can you say, JEALOUS!?!? You are kickin' butt, Sooner!
I hereby decree you are not allowed to beat yourself up so much! It just propels you deeper into that downward spiral. So cut it out. We'll start a goofball plan to jump start exercise, okay?
Here's the deal: it is 930 miles from Nashville to Sioux Falls. Let's "meet," in Kansas City, which is roughly half way. You can walk, jog, bike, do back handsprings, etc., to get there.
Please feel free to post on our IDGOMB threads and we can track how close we are getting to KC! That will help with a bit of goofball motivation/accountability. I find I do much better when it comes to tracking stuff, somehow. The exercise threads help, ya know, especially when I, hmm, how you say, "EXERCISE?"
I have had a crazy few weeks and have wandered in and out of accountability land. This is a prime time for me to get focused along with you. You can always PM or post here and I'll drag my sorry butt out of the woodworks to help ya!
Unfortunately, the journey is not a straight one. There are lots of bends, twists and a few really big potholes on the way. And some squished armadillos, if you're traveling I-40 West bound. But you've done amazing, Sooner, and I'll do what I can to kick our butts back in gear!
Today's accountability: I've walked just under 5000 steps, which with my stride is about 2.1 miles. Wow! 2.1 miles down, 565.9 to go! You'd better get off your duff because at this pace, I'll be in South Dakota to kick your butt in about 14 months!!!!
RUN SOONER, RUN!!!!

Hi Ellen. We dont mind if you want to come over here to the Tn board. We'll just pull you up a chair, oops no I take that back. You need to move, so we won't be hospitable enough to give you a seat to sit in! LOL....
How do we hold ourselves accountable? That is a good question. It's easy to get 'out of habit' of exercising, and the best way to get back is just to make a decision that you are going to do it, and that you need to do it... and then just jump up on the treadmill or street and start. It's hard, HARD once that habit is broken... but you know, (and I'm not a huge exercise fan) once I get to walking or moving, it feels great!
Sometimes it helps to mess up your routine of doing things, plan your meals, take your shoes to work with you so that you can get some more walking in, and then start incorporating these things... Feel free to come over anytime you want as there is always someone posting on the "move the ole arse" post aka IDGOMB... Take care

I got in about 9 minutes on the recumbent bike before Ol' Purdy dragged me off of it to stretch. I did closer to 40 min of stretches and weight machines for my legs--LOVE THEM! The machines, I mean. And my legs are kinda cute.
I skipped the walk to my car last night because I didn't want to pu**** with my bursitis. I did rack up a total 7436 strides yesterday, which is not bad. Not quite the 10K I wanted, but better than I have been doing the past week or so!
