Plateau
I am going through the same thing this month. I have encountered a stall this month too and it has set me back a little. I have only lost 10 or 11 pounds this whole month. I was stuck for a week on the same weight. It is coming down again now.
I have done a little research on this and it is normal. In addition, they say if you had developed an insulin resistance (I was on an insulin pump and had been diagnosed with insulin resistance) the body will store fat cells more easily even when you are doing the right things. Be patient. This surgery works if you work it.
I have lost 82 or 83 pounds (depending on what time of the day I weigh) since I started at 290. I was 265 the day of surgery and am at 208 this morning. I never change my ticker until I have sustained the weight for a couple of days. It has been a little slower for me, but I feel and look so good that there is no way you can pay me to say anything negative about it. It is working for me and I am a new person. You will be too.
Keep us posted and my best wishes for a great weight loss soon!
Ah yes, the dreaded 3 week out stall. This is perfectly normal and very temporary.
Like others have said, keep doing what you know to do - drink, eat your protein, move - and the weight will come off. Your body is starting to realize things have changed and it has to adjust.
This is a perfect time to take your measurements again -- You did remember to take them before surgery didn't you?? If not, put on something you wore pre-op that was tight and see how much looser it is now.

Ditto---I was absolutely, positively sure that I was the one person in the world that RNY was not going to work for!! You will hit a plateau (more than one, probably, but since they always give way to weight loss they will concern you less as they occur) about a month out (at least I did) & it will scare you to death b/c it's your first one. Don't fret...the weight will start to come off....just stick to your program...get your fluids in & your protein & try to walk. I started at 293 before the 2-day liquid diet & then had surgery at 289....I am 10 weeks out today & down about 62 pounds to 231......I have felt just like you for a few days & then e'thing starts to "work" again & the weight comes off. Just work your program exactly like Dr. O tells you & you will be good to go.
Remember, just like back when you would go on diets to lose weight prior to WLS...your body will fight you & hold on to all the fat because it is afraid you are going to starve it. It is doing the same thing now, but with your new-best-friend-tool of WLS it won't win!
Congrats on your decision to have WLS.....you are in for an amazing year! xo, Micheala.
