Hi all,

It's time to start ording the goods so I am sure to get it all in time. So I am looking at protein powders. I know eveyones tastes are different but I wanted to see if I can get an idea of what most people like. I would prefer to buy online.

Anyone have one they just love? What flavor?

Thanks for all the help,

Sher

Sher - my choice is from GNC - Max Protein Powder. If you want to get it online, you can go here:

Yeah, it's pricey, but so worth it. I tried every protein powder out there. Scott and Mel also like the Nectar Cappacino, and it's really good, too.

I've recently discovered Maz Protein too. Yum! Shelly (TheWorld AccordingToEggface.com) has a code on her site for 20% off, which makes it a better deal. Hope that helps. :)

One thing you will probably not go wrong with is a product on Bariatric Eating.  It's called "Pure" and is an unflavored protein powder "similar" to Unjury or Any Whey.  However, this protein powder dissolves in water and does not change the color or taste of water.  Wow, I would say that is a good unflavored protein!  It is whey protein isolate.  One reason you would benefit is because you can add it to your foods or broths when you return home, or put it in your liquids and never even know that they are there!  And, many times, folks cannot tolerate protein powders after surgery because they are very sweet.  *Unjury is nasty.  Any Whey is better than Unjury and is locally sold at Vitamin Shoppe.

Here is another one.  It's called Cytosport Performance.  It is similar to Isopure, only many of us have tasted both and come to the general consensus that it tastes much better than Isopure!  Here is a link to Vitamin Shoppe's site so you can see what it looks like.   which is zero carb, zero sugar, 40 grams of protein...  make sure to review the label and get that one, not the ones with sugars/carbs.  Many labels look the same.  **I am glad to see Centennial finally added this to the approved list! Yippee!

I always try to provide links so people can see what it looks like, print it off and take it to the local store with them.  Sometimes these look so similar, its easy to pick up the wrong thing.  These drinks are really good if you put them in a magic bullet and make slushees out of them, or maybe put them in sugar free jello (in place of jus****er, that way you are getting protein), and also you can just add some water so that its not so sweet and sip on them throughout the day.

Centennial recommends the EAS AdvantEdge Carb Control RTDs.   Walmart and many local stores sell these along with Atkins low carb drinks, and these are very similar to the EAS low carb ready to drink containers....  they come in a variety of flavors, and if you find they are too sweet, jus****er them down to your liking...  right after surgery, almost everything is VERY sweet. If you just cannot stomach the EAS, you may end up trying the Atkins.

Of course, if you want a cappuccino flavor, Nectar Syntrax (which is on the Centennial approved list) has a good product.  You can get this at the local Vitamin Shoppe, along with other flavors.  However, most people love 'em or hate 'em.  You would fare better to get samples from someone before buying such large containers.

I also want to add, Matrix 5.0 Chocolate is a wonderful chocolate protein powder. YOu can make hot chocolate out of this!  And, I see it is also on the newly revised Centennial list.  *I went by the office a few days ago and picked up a current copy of "the bariatric bible").

Steve, that would be fine with me.  I have a cabinet full of just protein powders. They are all friendly, I have several flavors of Nectar you can try, along with some Whey Gourmet, Champion Chocolate, oh gosh I can't even name them all.

You and Mike should come over soon for a visit and I will mix up some.

lol...yup, Mel, you need to have a protein party...I will host it at my house if you want to bring the goods....lol.....of course, since Dr. Houston is the only Centennial doc that allows periodic protein shake supplements to get our protein in the others might have to come in disguise to taste...lol!!!! xo, Micheala.

I would be up for having a protein party.

Susan! Would you want to have a few of these new folks over to my house and help me feed them? I mean, help me liquidate them. Or whatever that might be called! lol

I lean toward the flavors of protein that you can mix with coffee.  Like cinnamon Cappuccino form bariatric Eating, or Nectar Cappuccino.  But since you are just getting started, you might want to wait a while for these.  Your choice though!

When Dr Dyer did my surgery, I lived off of EAS ready to drink shakes!  YUM!

Anyway, give a shout if you need help!
