I gained 157 pounds today...yippee!!!
Today was a wonderfully fantastic day.....we have a new member of our family, Clementine, who is our new 157 pound Great Dane!!! She is sure that she is a chiuaua and spent tonight in the media room w/my three kiddos using her as a huge pillow.
Clementine is our 4th Great Dane...sadly, Duke, Harley & Rowdie have passed away & we haven't had a Dane in our home for about 7 years....we definitely missed that.
Clem is 3 years old...a friend of a friend contacted us because Clementine's mommy just got divorced & has to move & wanted to find Clementine a good home.....I am so thankful that we were it!! We just adore her....she's perfect.....when I can I (promise) am going to add some pics to my profile of me, the gang & Clemetine!!!
xo, Micheala.
I've always wanted a Great Dane, since I saw that old Disney movie about the Great Dane who thought it was a daschund. Congrats... The biggest dog I've ever had was in VA, his name was Brogan he was a BIG rottie (125lbs).. best dog ever, but he thought he was a prissy poodle, hated getting his feet wet. I swear he would cross his legs rather than go out in the yard to potty when it was raining! He was so loving except when it came to "protecting Momma" and he would have taken on a bear for me! I miss him greatly... I keep thinking, it is time for another dog!!
CONGRATS again... I'm really envious! I've been watching the rescue boards on Huskies, or Malamutes... maybe I'll start peeking at the Great Dane boards too..
Oh...I bet Alex was beautiful....the blue are so pretty. I am so sorry she passed away, but how wonderful that she was able to reach 13!! How old is Pepper? The Merle's are pretty, too. Our first, Duke, was brindle....he was 178 pounds (his dad was 189 & set some sort of record, but I can't remember what it was...)..we lost Duke when he was 4 to bloat...it was so sad. I cried for weeks. Terrible. Then, we had Harley, our first Harlequin....and he made it to 8 years old & his hips became dysplasic so, sadly, we had to put him to sleep. Then we had a black Dane, Rowdy, who we got at 18 months and our neighbor, who was single and lived on the property next to us, fell in love with him.....we had just had our first baby and the timing was right so Rowdy went to live with Ron (the neighbor), but we still felt like he was ours b/c he would come to our barn back when we lived on the farm to see us all the time.
I adore Great Danes...they are so docile and so sweet. Glad you love 'em too!!! xo, M.
I am so head-over-heels for Clementine (and Great Danes...they are so wonderful!)...she is fitting into our family perfectly. Tonight she was my walking buddy.....we took a three mile walk this evening & it was wonderful...I had my MP3 player/earphones on & was walking super fast & she didn't even pant. So fun!
YES....look at the Dane resuce sites...they are really so human! I adore them. xo, M.
