Only a few days till my surgery!

 Hey everyone!

Sorry I've been missing in action for the most part these days.  The liquid diet has been quite challenging, though not in the way I expected.

I was more concerned about my head--constant cravings and impulsive thoughts plying me to cheat.  HA!  How wrong was I?!?  I have had essentially no desire to eat and am easily able to squish cheat-inducing thoughts.  Freaky.  I can't believe how simple ignoring the urge to eat is at this point.  Gotta do it or no surgery.  I'm a good rule follower.

So the physical effects are what's throwing me for a loop!  Nausea and gurgling intestines.  The Carnation Instant B'fast shakes are a bit gross.  And they're not even "real" protein shakes!

Tuesday I had horrific headaches from my carb withdrawal.  Wednesday was okay and Thursday started out okay.  Then my stomach said enough is enough!  I had cleaned up and got ready for work, gassed up the car and even stopped in at Walmart for a few odds and ends.  I pulled into the parking lot at work and BAM!  I barely had enough time to pull over, put the car in park and fling open the door.  Up came my morning dose of instant b'fast!

I sat in the car a few minutes and then decided to go home.  I was soooo tired.  And I ended up sleeping until 2pm!  So it was a good call to take the day off.  Plus my car would have probably got flooded, since it was close to Natchez and West End.  I am grateful for the rain in at least it cleaned up my parking lot mess!  I felt bad, like I should put an orange cone in the space so no one would park and then step in it!

Hopefully that will be the last time I heave for a long time!  Next week:  phenergan!

Now I have two more days after today until surgery.  After a day of clear fluids, I'm back on track with shakes, though I have temporarily switched to Atkins Shakes.  I've almost had an entire little box with no queasies.  YAY!

I think yesterday was a show of what's to come.  I drank too much (had a cup of tea) too fast and boy was I nauseated.   Precursor to what can happen if I don't sip sip sip and instead gulp gulp gulp.  But I think I can handle it.

Y'all get ready to scooch over--I'm on my way to the loser's bench!!!

HUGS!!!

Congrats! I'm movin on over!

It's nice to see you around again. It's been a while. I hope all goes well. And no more nasuea. It is amazing how you can not crave something if you know you can't have it anyway. It's not like you are just not suppose to have it... you CAN'T! lol It helps alot.

Boy Laura, they make the last day at work crazy, don't they!   I haven't even left yet and it's pushing 7 o'clock!

A day of clear liquids helped with the nausea.  I switched to an Atkins style shake today and it was nice and creamy and stayed down.  YAY!  I can't wait to get this done and get some phenergan so I don't have to worry about nausea toooo much.

You're right--I CAN'T eat right now and that helps so much in sticking to the liquid diet.  However, we had to go to a meeting this afternoon that is in the building by the McDonald's.  My boss was reading an article in the Vandy paper and walking realllllly slowlllly.  OMG, MOVE IT!  THEY HAVE THE FRYERS ON SMELL-O-VISION AND I AM DROOLING!

I survived that.  Now I just gotta get out of her and get ready for Monday!

Thanks!!

Denise,
I wish you the best with your surgery. Please keep us posted. I did Atkins shakes twice a day on the liquid diet and was fine except a little weak and dizzy the last couple of days. You will make it. Hang in there.

 Thanks, Karen!

Somehow I have survived on only one shake, though I am quite hungry right now.  I'll wait till I get home, then I can have that and basically go to bed!

I am sure I will make it, as I got through the first several days.  I actually feel much better today (less foggy, certainly less barf-y).

Thanks for your support and I'll be sure to let everyone know how things are going.

Thanks!!!

So glad to hear that you are surviving the liquid diet. It wasn't as hard as I had thought it might be. There is something to be said for knowing that soon you won't be hungry anymore and that helps get through the liquid diet. I also felt a bit weak and nauseated and it can be a glimpse into the future, but don't let that scare you. You've got the right idea - sip, sip, sip...

See you on the losers bench soon!

Can't wait to join you, Stacey!

I've heard it said again and again, but no matter how much you try to prepare, you just don't know till you get there.  I figured I'd be wanting to eat constantly, but somehow I've been able to behave.  Weird!

But we adapt well, don't we?  So if I can go for days without eating, and swilling down grainy shakes, I think I can make it through the next step.

Definitely gotta practice the sipping not the gulping!

Thanks!!!

Ahhh.. Denise, hang in there, you'll be on the other side soon!

I wasn't a big fan of the instant breakfast shakes either until AFTER surgery, so don't give up on them!

Just think this time next week, you'll be REALIZED!!!!

HUGS and hang in there!!

Two more days, then surgery day Amy!!!!

Oooh, I hope my tastes for it change post op!  It's not horrible, it's just grown tired to me.  Plus it is a bit grainy.   I'll keep my fingers cross that it suddenly becomes Super Yummy!

I can't wait to get my band!  I'll try to write more when I get home.  Time to bust out of the office and enjoy some time off recovering!

HUGS!!!

WOW!!!! I can't believe its almost time. I think we do so well with the pre-op diet is because of the strong desire to have this life changing surgery. Can't wait until your a authentic looser, not like your co-workers think! BwaHahaha!!!! C'ya Bob
