Self-Pay prices?

Anyone know a surgeon in TN or AL with reasonable self-pay prices?  I know I saw one in Nashville (I belive it was Dr. Dyer) that is $15,500 for LapBand & $21,000 for VSG.  Anywhere with lower self pay prices?

We are right on the TN/AL state line, so I'd love to find one in either state.

As you are checking with others, make sure you find out what is included. At Centennial (referenced above), the cost for a band includes the coverage of any complications or readmissions to the hospital related to surgery for 30 days; for a VSG, 60 days.

Thank you and good luck,

Pam, that is one option that is VERY attractive because, am I correct in assuming that if a person's insurance does not cover their wls, and they have complications, the cost of the complications are also not covered? Centennial's discount program or benefit program, whatever would best be a term for it, would mean a great deal to self pay persons who do end up having complications.  And truth is, no one ever knows whether they will be one of the "statistics" who have complications...  there's no way in foreseeing it...

Thank you, Pam.  We are taking that into consideration as well.  I have noticed the lower prices do not include that, so that's something we will pray about & consider.

Does that price also include any pre-op tests needed?  I don't think I saw that anywhere on the website.

Our self pay rates include pre-admission testing (labs, EKG) as well as the nutrition/prep for surgery class and lifelong access to our registered dietitians, exercise physiologist, psychologist led and patient led support groups. It doesn't include the cost of the psychological evaluation (around $275.00) and the surgeon's initial consult (around $150.00).

Hope this helps!

Jenn - I had the Duodenal Switch at Centennial on 2/24 and they have the best program around.    I love the fact I can call up the Nutritionist if I hit a stall or have a basic question.    The exercise physollogist emails me regularly to check up on me and see how I am doing with my exercising.    All the people that work in the tace building (where the dr's offices are) ROCK.

I know cost is always a big factor but I just wanted to let you know that Centennial has great customer service and I could not be happier with them.

Thank you, jharrington.  While price is a factor, it certainly is not the only factor.  I'm tyring to choose a surgeon that is overall the best surgeon for me and my family.
