6 Weeks or so out I have lost 130 lbs, so I guess I passed the century mark, which is pretty awesome to me. I have a statement to all looking to have this surgery... It is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I am actually walking without so much pain now. I think i will always have back problems but life is finally have quality, when months ago i didnt care whether i lived another day or not but now I am glad I had the surgery. I was wondering though what everyone else did as far as weight loss. Is my loss normal (proportional to my weight) because I feel like I am not losing enough.

130 pounds in 6 weeks sounds pretty amazing.  I would caution you not to compare your results with others, but rather listen to your surgeon's opinion.  In any case, it's great that you're feeling so much better both physically and mentally.  Isn't that more important than anything else?  Congratulations on your accomplishment!

130 pounds in 6 weeks!  AMAZING!  I felt like I was really doing something losing 20 in 4.5 weeks.  I have been following your story since you first posted on this site.   I am old enough to be your mother......or grandmother?   Take it from an old fat lady who waited until late in life to do what you are doing for yourself now.   You will not be sorry and you will have the rest of your life to have a healthy productive life.  I am VERY proud of you!   Keep us updated.

I am preop but think I have read that the more you weigh to start the quicker you lose to start. You have already done a wonderful job! Keep it up!

Hi Justin---you are doing so great....of course, I'm pre-op, but I think 130 pounds in 6 weeks is incredible!!! Wow!  And, I think I met you at the Centennial support group a few weeks ago with Dr. Ihrig??  Maybe I am totally wrong, but your pic looks familiar.....you were sitting to the left of me, I think......there was a guy to the left of you who was thinking about surgery & worked for an insurance company or something....anyway, like I said, I could be wrong?

Anyway, you are doing amazing....and chopping wood two weeks ago! WOW!  Go get em!!! xo, Micheala.

130 lbs in 6 weeks is awesome.  But like someone already said, don't compare yourself to anyone else.  It took me 11 months to lose 140 lbs.  I don't know what your starting weight was but men tend to lose faster than women.  Take it easy and breath.  I think you're doing a great job.  I would have been on cloud 9 if I had lost that much in 6 weeks.  Keep up the good work.  It's all worth it in the end.  Trust me I know.  I've been through alot lately.  I just had surgery on friday from a complication of my RNY (which was january, 2008) and I still don't have any regrets.  I would do it over in a heartbeat.
