OT - new milestone

Today my daughter is 25 weeks, 6 days and still pregnant!!

Each day now makes this the longest she has carried a pregnancy.

Abigail Zara is scheduled to make her appearance on May 16th and we want her to stay put until then. I am going with Angela and Brian to their next appt with the pediatric cardiologist on March 17th. We will tour the NICU, ICU and PCCU that day to see the different units Abby will be in after she is born. She will be in the NICU until she is stable enough for her first surgery just days after she is born. After that surgery she will move to ICU until she is ready to move to the Pediatric Cardiac Care Unit and from there she will go home.

She will be back in for another surgery at 3 months and the final surgery at 2 years. Until she has the third and final surgery she will have a blue tinge due to poor oxygenation of her blood caused by the missing valve and under development of her right ventricle.

Please continue to pray for Abby and her mommy and daddy. Angela and Brian are keeping such an optimistic attitude about all of this and are working very hard to be as well prepared as they can possibly be. They got some great diagrams from the pediatric cardio when they met with him and that has really helped us all understand what is going on and what each surgery will do.

It is just amazing what they can do now. Thirty years ago they didn't discover this kind of defect until a baby was born and most babies died from it. Now they tell us that we can expect Abby to live a near normal life following her surgeries and even have babies when that time comes.

That little girl is pretty lucky to have such a terrific family...  and I'm sure granny will be her biggest fan!  She will surely have quite a medical history following her, and she will be in our prayers.  I know how much Angela & Brian are looking forward to this.

Susan, I will most certainly keep little Abby in my prayers as she continues to grow and develop inside her mommy.  I know Angela and Brian and anxiously awaiting her arrival and will love her with all they have.  I'm sure she will be raised in a Christian household as well, so this will most definitely be a child that will be bathed with prayer on a daily basis - not just now, but even after she arrives.  My prayers are for her, her mommy and daddy, her grandparents as well as her extended family.  They are extended to the medical staff that are already taking care of her mommy and the medical staff that will be dedicated to her care upon her arrival and that will follow her as she grows.  I pray that God's healing hand is on her through this process and all the procedures she endures are as painless as possible and successful so that she under goes as few as possible.

Thank you for this wonderful update and please continue to keep us posted on her progress and development.

Susan.
This is what life is all about.  I am tickle that things are looking good for little Abby's arrival and ya'll are getting prepared.  You are in my prayers.  I started my career as a NICU nurse and remember these little ones didn't make it 25 years ago.  Modern medicine is a miracle in itself.  Please keep me updated.  God has a purpose for this little one's life.

Oh, Susan.... It sounds like Mommy and Daddy (and gramma for that matter) are doing everything possible to make sure this baby will be as healthy as possible.  You are right,  with so many medical advances,  she is set up for nothing but success.

You and your family will stay in our positive thoughts!
