I had heard of them doing that new "Rose" procedure (where they reduce the size or your pouch and stoma) through the mouth. I think it's exciting but I can't image them being able to do an RNY or Band though one opening so far from where they'd be working. The surgery they are doing trials on is removing "70% of the stomach" and doesn't say anything about rerouting.
But this could make it possible for people who have had previous surgeries to have a much less complicated surgery...if I had the choice of an Open RNY or this gastrectomy though another route...I would have probably chosen the latter.
Very interesting!

Yeah I'm getting a Band and really don't see how doing surgery that way would work for that at all! But I just found it interesting. I've had 2 c-sections and gall bladder surgery in the past. So I am not really looking forward to the pain after surgery.... but it will be WELL WORTH IT!
