Dollywood

Who has been to Dollywood and can give some first hand knowledge on size restraints for the rides?

According to their site "All rides and attractions at Dollywood are designed for persons with average body stature and proportion. Some ride restraint systems may not accommodate Guests of larger weight and/or greater height."

We are hoping to go this Spring and I am worried about still not being able to ride.  My last trip to an amusement park (a long, long, long time ago) I waited hours for a ride only to not fit.  Yeah, that was embarrassing.

Good Morning!

Phil and Cheyl go a couple times a year, so they may be able to answer your questions.  If not possibly Marilyn - she lives there (Not Dollywood - but close)  good to hear from you.  Are you going to come to the Lunch Bunch on Saturday - it would be great to see you again.

I am (hopefully depending on the weather up north) going to be out of town this weekend.  I really need to make it to some of the functions.  Going to things like Lunch Bunch might get me over my restaurant fears (not wanting to go because I don't ever know what to order) and it would be great seeing everyone.

I could ride all the rides at Dollywood when I weighed 289, so I think you will be ok.  They do have extendors for the Grizzly River Rampage but I never needed it.  I even rode the Tennessee Tornado when I was that big.  I am pretty sure you will be ok.  I hope you have a great time in my part of the state.  We love it here!

Yay!  Thanks, Marilyn.

I have been to Gatlinburg before and it is lovely out that way.  I just didn't bother even trying Dollywood because I knew not being able to ride would make me sad and I was at my high weight when we were out there.  I still had lots of fun...I collect art glass and pottery so that area is shopping heaven for me.

Dollywood has lots of things to do besides the rides, there is even a crafter's village in the park.  I enjoy the shows at Dollywood too, and the seats in the theaters were comfortable even when I was 333...

I am NOT a rider though, I do well to ride in cars sometimes without getting motion sickness, so I don't like riding rides.

I hope you have a GREAT time..  it is a fun place to explore!

If you go, make sure to see the museum it has her clothes and hair in there!

Hey Blush,

Phil and I do try to go a couple times a year, last year when we was there we didn't try to ride anything, mainly because I still didn't want to attempt it, due to possibly not being able to fit. We are not going to make it there this year, because we are focusing on going on our cruise in late Oct. We plan on going next year and I'm sure by then both of us will be able to ride stuff with no problem. Like everyone has said there is so much other stuff to do, like all the shows. You can go to the website and check out the show calendar and it will give you a sample of what to see. You can check for the dates that you are going to be there and see the shows and times and plan your day according. When we go , we allready know which way we are going as soon as we get there. You can even print a map of the park to take with you. Of course, you will be given a hard copy map of the park along with a show schedule for that day. So plan, plan, plan I'm sure that ya'll will have a great time, we alway's do. We really enjoy goind during Christmas and watching the parade that actually goes thru the park and the lights are out of this world. Lot's of picture opportunities for sure.

Hope this helps

Cheryl
