Last night at support group, I sat down next to a lady that I use to work with. She was there in support of her daughter who had recently had surgery. I haven't seen this woman for nearly 6 years and about 1/2 way through the meeting I leaned over and asked her how retirement was going. She just looked at me like I was crazy. Anyway, I proceeded to tell her that we had taught together 6 years ago. She said that no, I must have taught in that building after she had left. I continued to jog her memory as to what we taught, her room location, and my room location. (She was a wonderful teacher and very fun to work with by the way.) She acknowledged that she had worked with a Tawnya. Then all of a sudden it hit her that I was truly Tawnya!
This was the first time that I had seen someone who knew me before surgery, but hadn't seen me at all during the process of losing the weight.
As I told Paula, I was very tired, it had been a very long day and I nearly blew support group off, but my car insisted that we go. I am glad that I did. I always feel better after going even when I don't think that I have anything to add or comment on.
And might I say that you looked darn cute Tuesday night too!!
I love the look that comes over people's faces when they realize who you are. hehehehe
