To catch up... & a question for the ladies please!!!!

When I'm home, (now that I have energy) I am playing with Connor, cleaning, doing laundry, moving...  and don't always take the time to get on the computer...  now..  while I'm at work, snicker...  it is a welcomed break from the kiddos!  So while I am confined to my classroom, I can sneak on the computer.. and catch up..

IHBGOMB (I have been getting off my butt) usually the bike for 6 miles every other night, and depending on the weather, outside for a walk down the road!  Depending on the ice storm situtation that is suppose to be hitting tonight, I'll be heading to the YMCA to join up tomorrow or Wednesday.   I am so excited!!!!

Now, for the ladies (men too if you know, I will take all help on this one!!!!)

During our lovely time of the month, how do you combat the cravings for real chocolate???  How do you deal with water gain?  Is there some magic food or drink that will help with the bloating and cramps?  I am not sure why but they have said the only pain reliever I can have is tylenol and my mainstay during my periods have always been midol, so I'm struggling!!!     I would appreciate any help or suggestions greatly!!

Thank you!!!

I keep telling myself to get off my butt and go to work, but I just don't wanna!

I just looked it up and tylenol (acetaminophen, or however you spell it) is one of the main ingredients in Midol.  I'd shoot an email to or call one of your nurses to see if you take midol.  I don't know if the other ingredients would upset your stomach or not.  But at least it has the preferred pain reliever in it.

Maaan, I was hoping we could take ibuprofen with the band.  It's my favorite.  But I guess I'll have to switch at some point.  Pttoey.

Congrats on sticking with the bike and stay safe and warm when the dreaded ice storm hits!!!! YIKES!!  (does this mean I can come home from work early?  Assuming I even get there in the first place, at the rate I'm going!!  Obviously, I appear to be in slug mode today.  Pour some salt on me and put me out of my misery!!! )

Hugs to ya, Amy!!!

Ok maybe I missed something, this is the first I have heard about not being able to take ibuprofen with the band. Or at least I don't remember. Guess I will be asking the doc on Monday.

Hey Cheryl!

Maybe it's one of those YMMV things and depends on the surgeon.  I'm sure it's all about ibuprofen and NSAIDS and inflammation/ulcers in the stomach.

I've actually never asked about it (yet), but need to.  I figure I'll hear the same story that Amy does, since we go to the same clinic.  Different surgeons, though.

I loves me some Advil for my joint pain!  But maybe losing 100 pounds will be even more effective for joint pain!

If you haven't had issue with it and your band, I'll keep my fingers crossed!

Thanks,
Denise

Ohhh thank you for looking that up!!!   And I will send an email right away!!!

Depending on where you are depends on when it will the ice will hit!    (And then again, with all this preparation and such, we might not get anything!?!?)

We aren't expecting anything here until after midnight.  So needless to say, we are going to the grocery store this afternoon (like everyone else) and grab a few things!

Hugs

I allow myself to have a piece or two of sugar free chocolate during that time of the month. As far as meds, I only take tylenol. But then again I am not a Bander.

Maybe only Tylenol for Amy since she is only 6 weeks post op?

I have had a long stream of hormone issues since I was about 14.  I have severe cramps, bloat very large sometimes, then at other times have horrible bouts of depression, mood swings, and suffered with PMDD. So honey, I hear ya... and feel for you too.

for cramps, I always take Rapid Blast Tylenol liquid.  It helps with all my pains, regardless of what it is.  It always helps with cramps.

Thank you all for your help and suggestions!!!!    The nurses said the ibuprofen band was for before surgery, although they would prefer me sticking with an acetaminophen due to being easier to digest.

So, I'm good to go!!!

Again, thank you so much for your understanding and help!!

HUGS!!!!
