Just for Fun - Wish List for After Surgery
Hi - 9 February is my day, too! I'm having the intestinal portion of the DS done then. I had the gastric sleeve 29 January 2008. I hope we both have a wonderful experience in three Mondays! Yikes! (I'm 55, so we're pretty much of an age, too).
I've been pretty sick with various things, so my "will do" list is different to yours. I want to have enough stamina to do normal things, normally! I carry on swimming in front of people, even though I am SMO. I figure, people know I'm fat with my regular clothes on, it's not like a bathing suit is going to be a complete shock! Heh heh, of course, I do wear the kind that comes with shorts and everything else that I can find. I mean, it's obviously there, but I don't really want people to be able to see it without anything over it. I don't know why. 'Tisn't pretty, either way!
I can't stand horses! Isn't that funny, for a girl who lived a long time in Kansas? I don't trust them and they make me very nervous. All that big, huge animal, all those pounds, all perched up on those skinny, stilty, delicate legs. (shudder)
I took "skydiving" lessons when I was in Kansas. Before they had the new parawings (I guess they're not new anymore!) You learned to pack a parachute and they taught you how to free fall, and all that. They said that the landing was the equivalent to jumping off the roof of your car, as far as jolt to your knees and ankles. So i tried that, and thought, "okay, that's enough." LOL I used to jump out of my bedroom window on the second floor of our house, but that's a whole different story.
Anyway, I wanted to say hi and wish you great luck and wonderful success with your surgery and I can't wait to see you posting here about all the things you're ticking off your "will do" list!

Great post. Let's see . . .
Start riding again, resume my quest to become a Dressage Queen, and go for trail rides with my son as soon as he's old enough (should be within 3 yrs)
Be able to walk around all the Franklin street festivals without feeling drained for a week after. Esp. the ones in warm weather.
Be able to wear cute shoes, NO orthotics!
Bend over to pick stuff up off the floor without thinking about it.
Buy clothes in the colors and styles I like. -- and if the store doesn't have them, leave to go to another that does! Oh hell, just to buy clothes in a store and not online!
Learn how to dance like a serious 'ho.
Go to the waterpark with my son and join him on the slides.
To fit (rather than squeeze) into choir robes and complain how loose and unattractive they are. Rather than, say, complain about how I look like the white whale in them.
