Hey Cathy, Great Topic!

I'm 46, same surgery date as Cathy (2/9) and  here is my list:

Run the St. Patricks Day Dash in 2010

Get back into Horse Back Riding (without said Horse needing orthopedic care afterward)

Learn to Pole Dance

Swim with Dolphins

Teach my daughter to body surf

See my Bikini Line so I can shave my bikini line (for above mentioned water activities)

Go inner tubing in the Hood Canal (I will be able to pull myself up on the tube if I fall off)

Bungie Jump without fear of breaking the chord

Live long enough to enjoy any grandchildren I may be blessed with (IN THE DISTANT FUTURE - in case my kids are reading this)

Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up.
It knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed.
Every morning in
Africa, a lion wakes up.
It knows that it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve.
It doesn't matter whether you're a lion or a gazelle
when the sun comes up you'd better be running.

Great Idea Cathy!

You know, I've never really thought about it.  I have no desire to jump out of a plane, but I guess if I had to come up with a few things, one would be to"

Bungee jump!

Another goal. not dream, is to go back to Pickett State Park and hike to the Twin Arches!  In March of '07, I went to Pickett on a retreat with my work.  This was the experience that help me to decide to have WLS.

On a small hike (1/4 mile), I nearly blacked out.  If it had not been for RJ (he was 9 at the time), I don't know what would have happened.  He made me sit down, drink some water and rest for about an hour before we were able to continue!

So, I want to take him back to Pickett and hike the 2-3 mile trek to the Twin Arches!

Thanks for making this fun!
Scott thumbs up

Ok...  here is my "found family" story for those who might be wondering......  which is fine, I love questions...

I lived in VA for 13 years, I loved it there, but had no family close.  A couple moved from NY, they were together but they had no family either.  We found each other...  we got along great, and eventually we moved into a very large house that none of us could afford on our own.    They ended up married with a child, whom I claimed as mine, he even looks like me!  Go figure that one!    They also claim Connor...  he looks like a mini-me too...  so they kind of look like brothers without having any shared blood..   nurture vs nature!

His mom and dad joke about how I'm their "other daughter-in-law"  and we sometimes joke about being husband, wife and wife.    Though before mind wanders none of that happened.  They are my best friends in the whole world, they are like my brother and sister, my counselors, they are huge supporters of my WLS...

I have a wonderful family and I live close to them now in TN, my best friend's job took them to TX, for the next five years, so until we get back into the same area, we visit as much as schedules and $$ allow.  We talk all the time on the phone, internet, email, text, etc....

So..  that is the story of my found family...  and yes, when we are all old and gray we plan to retire together...  and let the boys take care of us!

Thanks for asking!!  I guess you could say I am kind of adopted!!
HUGS

This is a great topic!  Due to my weight, I have had all kinds of back and mobility problems.  Growing up I was very overweight, but always active in sports and in general.  So my wishlist includes much more activity:

Playing basketball and volleyball with friends

Playing golf with my family Easter weekend

Swimming

Tubing

Running a 5K

Travelling (I already have a trip to Charleston, SC planned with some of my cousins and a trip to the beach planned with my best friend.  Go to some civil war battlefields with my boyfriend.  We have been to a couple, he loves history, but I wasn't able to get out and walk around much with him.)

Flying  (I look forward to being able to fly to Houston to visit a close friend of mine and her family and actually fitting in a seat!)

Horseback riding (so many of us seem to have that goal.  It has been so many years since I have done that)

Go to WVU football games again (I grew up doing this and am a WVU addict)

I'll probably think of more later, there are so many things that I would love to do!

oh nice.  I love these things!

I want to be able to buy clothes at Old Navy.

I want to walk up and then walk back down Natural Bridge in Kentucky (I tried this a couple of years ago.  I made it to the top but not without physically crying when I got there and then we were too weak to get back down. Much drama ensued.  It was horrible!)

I want to ride in a boat without being the one who has to "stand over there for a minute" to level out the rest of the boat.  hmph.

I love the horse idea.

buy  a bathing suit without a skirt.

ride a roller coaster without fear of not fitting.

go snorkeling or scuba diving and fit into a wetsuit.

Some of mine goes right along with alot of what has allready been said, but I will add one of my own and I hope my DH will see this.....lol

Some may think this is silly, but anyway here goes.........

I want my DH to be able to go into Victoria Secret and yes buy something for me, but also buy something for him. I hope that is not TMI for everyone...........

We have never flown so that is something that we both want to do and do soon. One of the reason's we haven't yet is because we would need to buy 4 seats instead of 2, I'm sure ya'll can realte.

We are going on our first crusie in late Oct and we can't wait. We are driving down to AL and boarding there. There is going to be a Halloween Gala  on one of the nights and we are going as King & Queen of Hearts, it's going to be a blast.

Great thread, keep them coming.

I have quite a list but I won't share them all here. Here's a few...

Ride all the major roller coasters in America

Shop in a normal sized clothing store

Tie my own shoes with my feet still on the floor

Play baseball with my grandson

Go horseback riding

Learn to ski

Go body surfing somewhere topical in a cute bathing suit and not a swim dress

Shop all day without my wheelchair

Go back to work

All you guys are great!  It is liberating to take a deep breath and say outloud what is in our minds and hearts.  We can do this!   I wish every one of you all your inner wishes.

Keep the whsh lists coming.......and maybe some of your folks who have reached your goals could share which ones of your wishes have come true and how it feels when it happens.

Some of us can only imagine at this point!

I want to wear jeans again. I want to ride a roller coaster. I haven't ridden a roller coaster since I was 17. I want to ride a bike. I want to try some kama-sutra style ultra-exotic sex positions! I want to buy a piece of clothing becaise I like it, not because it fits okay. I want the energy to pursue my dreams of managing to live some way other than in near poverty. I want to go to a club, get on the dance floor at 10:30 and not stop dancing until closing. No slow songs please! I want a normal sense of balance (I am disporoprtionally belly-heavy to the point where my balance is drastically affected). I want to walk with strides, and not a shuffle because my belly interferes with the movement of my knees and lifting my legs. I'd like to fit, with reasonable comfort, in an airplane seat. I want to...

Well, I'm sure you get the point.

God writes a lot of comedy... the trouble is, he's stuck with so many bad actors who don't know how to play funny.
