3 Year Anniversary/Cross Post
Friday will be 3 years since I have been banded. On one hand the time has flown by and on the other hand this has been such a long journey. I am so glad I made the decision to have WLS. I can't image what my life would have been like now if I had not made this decision. I can't image what my weight would have been....!!
I have gone from 280 lbs. to 125 lbs. and from a size 22/24 to a size 4/6, but more importantly I have gained respect, confidence and self worth.
I can do things now I could not do before. I can cross my legs, tie my shoes without cutting off my breathing, walk up the stairs without stopping, dress in the latest fashions, shop at the "normal" stores.
I can do just about everything I envisioned a normal person can do but we all still deal with the head hunger. Even after 3 years I still make mistakes and eat to fast or not chew well enough or something foolish and sometimes I take that last bite because it is soooooo good knowing I am making a mistake but I do it anyway!!
What I am trying to say is WLS is great and it works if you work it but it is not 100%, you might cure your body and be down to a healthy weight but you can't cure your mind, that takes time. I do 90% better now in my 3rd year than I did in my 1st year but I still have to work on the head deal. I think we will always have that problem, we have a disease called "Obesity" and we have to work on it just like an alcoholic has to work on their problems, we are never cured we are just in remission.
I wish all the best to those just starting out on their journey I hope the ride is wild and you never forget where you came from. Be nice to everyone, don't ever look down on someone else and thank God you got the chance to have WLS because not everyone can. To all of you veterans you have been such a help on my road to success that all I can say is a humble "Thank You", I could not have done this without all of you!!

Debbie, I am so proud of all you have accomplished! You look fantastic, and I'm sure you feel just a wonderful!
Your sister asked me today, "Have you lost more weight?" I said no, it's just shifted! I look forward to the day when I finally get to meet you. A couple of months ago, Jimmy Bridgeman said you had come in the new store, I was really sorry I missed ya!
Congrats once again!
