question please about sugars...
What is the difference between "sugar free" and "No sugar added"????
I was looking fudge pops, (needing a chocolate fix) and the box I saw had "no sugar added." Right next to it, was some other kind of freezer pops and they had "sugar free" on them. I realized I had no idea if there was a difference and if there was which one I was suppose to be buying so I came home with neither.
Sometimes I feel like I need a shopping coach in the grocery store!
Thanks for your input and patience with my questions!

"No Sugar Added" means that at least one of the main ingredients has naturally occuring sugars. Such as the milk that would be in the fudge pops or a "no sugar added" apple pie. It will contain fewer sugars, carbs and (perhaps) calories than the regular version.
"Sugar Free" is usually seen on products that contain no milk products, real fruit or juices, or other "naturally" sweet ingredients. These products also have to contain no more than a certain number of carbs/sugars per serving. Be careful of these too. Sometimes a manufacturer will tout something as sugar free but when you look at the label you find that it is high in sugar alcohols and/or a recommended serving is ridiculously small to keep the sugars below the guideline.
My guess is that the other freezer pops were popsicles??

Be careful of the "sugar Free" product as well. Even though they are a re nice treat every once in a while. They can lead to stalls in our journey.
Now, am I one to say don't have 'em? You want hear that from me. Just don't go overboard. I did! If you look at my recipe blog, you will see that most of the recipes are for sweets.

Take it slow and you will be fine! Oh yeah, a "nasty & odoriferous" side effect of sugar free...you leave a toxic cloud every where you go! At least my wife says I do! Bawahaaaaaa!
