Hi everyone.I am hoping to have my RNY surgery in May.The problems is that I am the only driver in my house and my mother is ill herself and is in NO condition to drive. My surgery will be performed at St.Francis Hospital in Memphis,Tn which is about 40 minutes from me depending on the traffic.I cannot afford to take a cab there and back so this is why I was asking this question about being able to drive yourself home after the surgery.

Sorry you will be told not to drive for two weeks. Maybe a friend or church member or WLS patient in your area. Hook up with someone having surgery and you do for them they do for you? Good Luck Bob

Sorry, like Bob said, you will not be approved by the Dr to drive for one or two weeks after surgery.

Are you attending any of the local support groups?  That would be a nice place to start building relationships with other WLS patients in your area.

Good Luck!
Scott thumbs up

My suggestion sweetie would be as Bob L. and Scott suggested. check with someone at your church or support group. You may also try, the disability  transport service, I know that they have it avalable to patiences at Vanderbilt here in Nashville, you may check to see what they criteria is for it. Hope this helps.  I used to live in Memphis, my Father in law had  had Drs. there.  But of course that was many, many moons ago. Check with their Services that they offer. Call the hospitalities and see what they can do to help.  If not you can also call churches that are sister churches of yours, My mother was a member of Highland Heights, and they might have someone that can help you, with this.Hugs and great Wishes hon.  from what I understand, if you get pulled over for some reason, you would be charged with a DUI from all of the meds.   I asked when I could start driving and my doc told me to make sure I have been off of my lortab for 24 hrs before.

are there any other friends  or friend of a friend that could help?
